The Captain Armor Set in Divinity: Original Sin 2
Combat plays a crucial role in Divinity: Original Sin 2, and the protective qualities along with unique abilities of the Captain Armor set are highly sought after by various characters. This set, which is part of the Four Relics of Rivellon free DLC, introduced four new armor styles. One of these sets provides a special item that can charm enemies, offering you a fresh approach to securing victory in battles.
You can acquire the Captain Armor Set through the quest titled “Threads of a Curse.” This set consists of three pieces of Captain Sech Zapor’s attire, which can be gathered during the game’s first act. By collecting all three components, you will unlock the ability known as Tyrant’s Charm, allowing you to charm enemies—a particularly useful skill as the game progresses.
How to Obtain the Captain Armor Set
Explore the Initial Major Area in the Game
The quest "Threads of a Curse" unfolds within or around Fort Joy, marking the beginning of your adventure in Divinity: Original Sin 2. There are several ways to encounter this mission, as the game supports various play styles, but this method is among the simplest to complete the quest.
To find the pieces of the Captain Armor set, you will need to visit three specific coordinates within the early game area. Start by looking for an Odd Skeletal Arm protruding from the sand at coordinates (X: 362, Y: 81). This arm will indicate a direction to follow as you hunt for the armor.
You can pull the arm from the ground; when dropped, it continues to point in the same direction, guiding your party toward a treasure chest.
As you proceed, you’ll eventually discover a chest encased in a purple dome at coordinates (X: 535, Y: 23). Be cautious, as the chest curses anyone who approaches it. You can dispel the curse by casting Bless. Interacting with the chest introduces you to Captain Sech Zapor, from whom you can initiate the "Threads of a Curse" quest. If you’ve previously completed the "Vault of Braccus Rex" quest, you can persuade Zapor using the Soul Jar you acquired in that mission.
Upon deciding whether to assist or confront Zapor, you will take your first steps toward locating the entire Captain Armor set. Each of the three pieces is located in different spots, typically revealed by Zapor or hidden in chests. Here’s where to find each piece:
Captain Armor Pieces Locations
Captain’s Armor Piece | Location | How to Get |
---|---|---|
Captain’s Charismatic Coat | (X: 535, Y: 23) | You receive this piece at the start of the "Threads of a Curse" quest. You can persuade Zapor to hand this over using his Soul Jar or defeat him to claim it. |
Captain’s Jaunty Hat | (X: 598, Y: 192) | Find a cave northeast of Dragon Beach. If Zapor isn’t present, the hat can be found in a chest nearby. |
Captain’s Dexterous Heels | (X: 607, Y: 244) | This piece is buried in a chest that requires a Shovel to unearth and possibly a Lockpick to open. |
Gathering every piece of the Captain’s armor will reward you with the Tyrant’s Charm upon completing the "Threads of a Curse" quest. This ability gives you a chance to pacify foes, causing them to attack their allies instead of your team—a particularly strategic advantage in challenging encounters.
Keep in mind that the charm only works on enemies without magical armor, and the target must be nearby for it to activate. Once mastered, the Tyrant’s Charm makes the endeavor to collect all pieces of the Captain Armor set unquestionably worthwhile in Divinity: Original Sin 2.
