In the latest surprise April Fool’s update for Marvel Rivals, Venom receives a new skin and a hidden emote, adding fresh cosmetics for players to acquire. The Hyper Orange skin and the Symbiote Boogie emote can be unlocked in different manners, with one option being free while the other requires a one-time purchase. Thankfully, both items are easy to obtain, making them a great addition to your collection.
The Hyper Orange skin is a nod to a secret character from the original Marvel vs. Capcom arcade game. While the beta version of Marvel Rivals featured a Cyan Venom skin that echoed Venom’s classic appearance from the iconic fighting game, the new Hyper Orange design is inspired by the legendary “Red Venom.” This variant of Venom boasted enhanced abilities, serving as a “Hyper” version of the original character.
Unlocking the Hyper Orange Venom Skin
Acquire the New In-Game Bundle
To obtain the Hyper Orange skin for Venom, players have two avenues:
- Purchase the new Pick-Up Bundle
- Spend 800 Units to obtain the Hyper Orange Skin, Spray, and Nameplate
The Pick-Up Bundle provides the easiest path to get the new Venom skin, as players unlock the costume for free upon purchasing the bundle. This bundle features a new collection of rewards, akin to a seasonal Battle Pass but at a significantly lower cost. You can purchase the Pick-Up Bundle for $2.99 in the Store, and the Venom skin will be unlocked automatically once your purchase is confirmed.
To locate the Pick-Up Bundle, click on the event when it appears in the main menu or navigate to the new “Exchange” option in the Store. A prominent prompt will display the bundle, showcasing various rewards.
After purchasing the Pick-Up Bundle, players can complete challenges for additional rewards, including Chrono Tokens and a new Costume Coin that allows you to claim another free skin. If you don’t have much use for Tokens, it might be simpler to spend extra Units to directly purchase the new skin in Marvel Rivals without having to grind for the Nameplate and Spray associated with it.
Unlocking the Symbiote Boogie Emote
Get an Entertaining Dance for the Lethal Protector
The more fun of the two new cosmetics is the Symbiote Boogie emote, where Venom breaks into a dance amid battle. This hilarious emote can be activated for as long as you wish, resulting in a delightful animation for the usually fearsome character. In my opinion, it’s a fantastic way to taunt defeated opponents during heated matches.
This emote becomes available as a secret reward for finishing Galacta’s Cosmic Adventure, which is a board-game-style event currently running. In the Cosmic Adventure event in Marvel Rivals, players collect a special resource by achieving mission objectives such as:
- Healing characters a specified amount
- Inflicting enough damage with designated characters
- Completing a set number of matches
- Scoring a minimum number of assists
Accomplishing these objectives allows you to gather Galacta’s Power Cosmic, a unique resource that fuels a special d4 dice you can roll. When you roll the d4, Galacta moves around a game board, collecting rewards at each space she lands on. These rewards include a rare Black Widow skin, Units, and Gallery Cards that you can view at any time.
Galacta skips over spaces she has already landed on, progressing based on the rolled number on the d4 until she arrives at an unvisited space. This design ensures that eventually, you collect all items from the game board.
By gathering enough Power Cosmic before the event concludes, you enable Galacta to traverse every space on the board. Once Galacta has gathered every event reward, you will receive the secret Venom Emote free of charge. Completing this event was relatively quick for me, especially since I focused on playing the limited-time Clone Rumble mode, which provides the maximum Power Cosmic rewards.
This emote is the hidden gem of the Cosmic Adventure event that the developers hinted at in recent weeks. As one of the more distinctive and amusing emotes in Marvel Rivals for any character, it’s definitely something you’ll want to snag before the event ends soon.
