The classic prestige system from previous Call of Duty games makes its return in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. Once you reach a specific level with your account, you’ll have the option to reset your rank and begin the grind all over again. This reset will unlock unique cosmetic rewards for both Multiplayer and Zombies modes and will allow you to skip some of the weapon progression during future Prestige cycles.
There are a total of ten Prestige ranks to achieve, plus an extra 1,000 levels after reaching the highest Prestige rank. It’s clear that this is a lengthy journey designed for committed players. Let’s take a closer look at how the Prestige system works in Black Ops 6, how it’s different from past installments, and highlight some rewards you can expect.
In Black Ops 6, the Prestige feature, known as “Classic Prestige,” functions like it did in earlier titles before Modern Warfare 2019. When you reach Rank 55 in either Multiplayer or Zombies, you’ll have the option to Prestige, resetting your account rank while increasing your Prestige score by one. This will grant you a unique emblem next to your name along with several exclusive cosmetic rewards.
You can Prestige up to ten times in Black Ops 6. Once you reach Prestige 10, you will unlock Master Prestige.
Unlike the Prestige system in more recent CoD games, Prestiging means you’ll lose access to your unlocked weapons, perks, Scorestreaks, and equipment. Everything needs to be re-unlocked, though there are rewards from Prestiging that can ease the process. Keep this in mind before you embark on the grind.
Notably, weapons retain their earned XP and cosmetics after you Prestige. There’s no need to re-unlock attachments or camos. You will need to unlock the weapon itself again by leveling, but all XP earned with that weapon will carry over through the Prestige ranks. GobbleGums obtained in Zombies mode will also remain available.
Once you reach Prestige 10, you will no longer have the option to reset your account level. Instead, you’ll activate Master Prestige, which allows you to progress up to Level 1,000. Reaching this level grants you a unique cosmetic reward that has yet to be disclosed by Treyarch. Master Prestige is quite similar to the Prestige systems found in MW2 and MW3, as you keep all your unlocked items during this phase; it’s more of a long-term endeavor.
Every time you Prestige, you will earn three rewards:
Advancing through each Prestige rank increases the XP you gain from Daily Challenges. Make sure to complete these while working towards Master Prestige 1,000.
The standout reward you receive is the Permanent Unlock token. When you reset your rank, you earn one token that can be spent on unlocking any item typically restricted by account leveling—such as weapons, perks, and equipment. This unlock does not reset when you Prestige again.
In addition to the tokens, you’ll also receive exclusive Prestige cosmetics as part of your grind. For instance, achieving Prestige 1 grants you a Zombies-themed character skin, an account emblem, an animated loading screen, a Gobblegum pack, a weapon charm, and a sticker. These bonus rewards are available either through completing Prestige Challenges (similar to calling card missions) or by leveling up.
