How to Start “Superior Scrimshaw”
After the events at Brilehaven’s coliseum, your team will meet Louis. Soon after, you’ll experience what it’s like aboard the Charadrius, Louis’ flagship. First, though, visit the craftsman located at the Merchant’s Bazaar in Brilehaven.
He’ll ask you to venture into the Forsaken Tower, which will be marked on your map, in order to obtain the Ebony Horn from the Orgas that awaits at the tower’s peak. Head there as soon as you’re ready!
The Forsaken Tower is quite a trek.

Enemy |
Notes |
---|---|
Trove Imitec |
Weak against Light. Distracted by Gold Attack. Check out our Trove Imitec boss guide for more details. |
Potolpos |
The Ink Spew attack can inflict a party-wide Malady. It uses powerful Pulverizer and Crushing Blow for Strike damage and casts Blizza for single-target Ice damage. Resilient against Fire and blocks Strike. |
Orgo |
Tries to inflict Daze on everyone with Earsplitting Shriek. Can cast Heat Riser to increase its stats and War Cry to lower your team’s Attack and Defense. Uses Strike-based attacks. Resistant to Strike and weak against Dark. |
Ascend the staircase to reach the second floor and brace yourself for immediate battles with Goborns. Close by, you’ll find a stunning treasure chest…but it’s guarded by a Trove Imitec. It drops a Turquoise.
Watch out for the small octopus enemies, as they have a quick-casting area-of-effect attack. After their attack, they explode and can inflict heavy damage. Be careful!
Snag the blue item, Magician White Mask, before heading upstairs. The nearest chest is yet another Trove Imitec, but at least it provides a Hero’s Leaf of Light upon defeat.
As you explore the second floor, you’ll notice pottery scattered everywhere, and Potolpos hiding between them. It’s a hazardous area, so tread carefully. Here you can find the blue items, Topaz and Golden Goblet.
The chest in the center holds a Sailcloth Cape, but before moving to the next floor, there’s another Trove Imitec. This one drops a Superior Enigmatic Accessory. Continue upstairs.

Orga |
Aims to daze everyone with Earsplitting Shriek. Can cast Heat Riser to boost its own stats and War Cry to weaken your party’s Attack and Defense. Attacks primarily with Strike-based moves. Resistant to Strike; vulnerable to Dark. |
The fourth floor features a locked door. Make sure to heal before opening it — you’ll face two Magla Flowers inside. Although you might want to grind for quick cash here, be cautious; the enclosed space makes dodging difficult.
In one of the more apparent spots, a Gold Beetle can be found on the fourth floor.
The Orgas you encounter are weak to Dark damage; find more detailed information in the table above. Move to the fifth floor and pay attention to the room layout. After opening the door, rather than rushing in, trigger the Potolpos to explode.
Lure an Orga to the doorway, then carefully hit them from the edge of the doorway until they’re stunned.
The sixth floor has a Magla Flower in the center. Be mindful that the larger enemies can easily stun you when entering battle; kite them around the room while attacking to avoid this.
The Great Orgas
As you reach the seventh floor, you’ll come across a door. Beyond that door lies the reward for your ‘Superior Scrimshaw’ quest. Check out our guide to learn how to defeat this formidable opponent — going in ill-prepared is not advisable.
Completing The Quest
To wrap up “Superior Scrimshaw,” simply go back to the craftsman and tell him you’ve acquired the Ebony Horn. Your rewards will include increased Courage, 25,000 reeve, and plenty of cherished memories.
