Quest Overview: Pinnacle of Its Kind

In Dragon Age: The Veilguard, the side quest Pinnacle of Its Kind unlocks after you successfully recruit Emmrich and complete the Restless Spirits mission. Following the conclusion of Restless Spirits, you’ll arrive at a spacious corridor featuring a locked door within the Necropolis Halls. Engaging with The Formless One at this location will initiate the quest.

As you explore further, your objective will be to vanquish three demons scattered across Thedas in order to unlock the door in the Necropolis Halls. This guide provides insights into the locations of these three demons and the necessary actions to summon and defeat them. We will also outline the rewards you can earn upon completing this quest in Dragon Age: The Veilguard.

Finding the Demon in Dock Town

You can tackle these demons in any sequence you prefer, as none are more challenging than the others. Although you will encounter the same type of enemy, each variant displays unique resistances and vulnerabilities.

To locate the Dock Town demon, head to the Spillway fast-travel beacon. From there, move south until you arrive at the quest marker shown on the map above. You’ll need to find a brazier emitting a green flame.

Interacting with this brazier will summon the demon for the Pinnacle of Its Kind quest in Veilguard. This demon is resistant to Shock but vulnerable to Necrotic damage.

Locating the Demon in Arlathan

In Arlathan, the next demon can be found near the Nameless Building’s fast-travel beacon. Simply head south from this beacon to reach the brazier where you can summon the demon. The Arlathan demon shows resistance to Necrotic damage and is weak against Shock.

Discovering the Demon in Hossberg

The final demon is waiting for you in the Hossberg Wetlands. The nearest fast-travel point is Solitude’s Edge. From here, head south and search for the brazier, which you must extinguish to summon the demon. This demon is resistant to Fire but vulnerable to Cold damage.

Battling The Formless One

After defeating all three demons, return to the locked door in Necropolis Halls for your ultimate challenge. When you unlock it, you’ll confront The Formless One, who has taken the form of a High Dragon.

This battle is particularly tough, as the dragon is level 40. It’s advisable to be at or near this level for a fighting chance. The High Dragon exhibits resistance to Shock and vulnerability to Necrotic damage. Having Emmrich in your team will be advantageous since he primarily deals Necrotic damage. Ensure that you’ve unlocked some of his skills before facing the dragon.

Consider including Lace Harding in your party for her ranged attacks, as the dragon tends to take to the skies. It’s also smart to equip Shock-resistant armor and bring at least one healer along.

During the fight, the dragon’s limbs will glow at certain moments, indicating vulnerability—this is your cue to strike! Additionally, expect the dragon to summon smaller enemies halfway through the battle. Focus on dispatching these minions quickly, as they can overwhelm you if left unchecked.

Rewards for Completing the Pinnacle of Its Kind Quest

Upon defeating all stages of The Formless One in the Pinnacle of Its Kind quest, you’ll receive the following rewards:

  • 1x Dragon Tooth
  • 2x Dragonfire Catalyst
  • +200 Mourne Watch strength
  • +300 Lords of Fortune strength
  • +1000 XP
  • Unbound Trophy/Achievement

With these strategies in hand, you’re well-equipped to tackle the Pinnacle of Its Kind quest in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Good luck on your adventure!
