Dynamax Wooloo is stepping into the limelight for this week’s Max Monday in Pokémon GO. This beloved Pokémon from the Galar region makes its return as part of the Max Monday events scheduled for April 2025, giving players the opportunity to add it to their Pokédex if they haven’t yet done so.
Wooloo was among the first Pokémon to be featured in Dynamax form in Pokémon GO, which became available through special research last year. Each week, between 6 PM and 7 PM local time, a different Pokémon takes center stage during Max Mondays, with Wooloo highlighted on Monday, April 14, 2025. It will also participate in the regular Max Battle lineup during the month of April.
Weaknesses and Resistances of Dynamax Wooloo in Pokémon GO
Best Types to Use and Avoid
Dynamax Wooloo is not the toughest Pokémon you’ll encounter in Max Battles, but understanding its weaknesses and resistances is essential for success. As a pure Normal-type Pokémon, Wooloo is particularly vulnerable to Fighting-type moves, taking 60% extra damage from them. This knowledge will make the battle significantly easier for you.
Even though Wooloo might seem underwhelming, when it’s in Dynamax form, it has much higher CP. This makes it crucial to leverage its weaknesses effectively.
Wooloo does have some resistance—it takes reduced damage from Ghost-type Pokémon. Therefore, avoid using Ghost-types in this battle, as they will deal 60% less damage. Any other Pokémon you choose to use, aside from Fighting- or Ghost-types, will deal standard damage.
Pokémon GO: Best Teams For Ultra League & Spring Cup: Great League Edition
In Pokémon GO, there are excellent team combinations for the Ultra League Cup and Spring Cup: Great League Edition that can improve your chances of winning battles.
During the featured hour on Max Monday, Wooloo will be the only Pokémon available in Power Spots. Once you find one, you can challenge it either solo or with up to three other trainers. While defeating Wooloo alone is feasible, you still need to select three Pokémon for each Max Battle.
Best Counters for Dynamax Wooloo in Pokémon GO
Fighting Types: The Key to Victory
One notable challenge for trainers is that you can only use other Dynamax or Gigantamax Pokémon in these encounters. These can be Pokémon you’ve previously caught in Max Battles, those evolved from Pokémon captured during such battles, or those acquired through Special Research, like Wooloo. Since Wooloo is weak against Fighting-types, it’s strategic to choose these for an easier victory.

While Fighting-types may not be the most common in Pokémon GO, there are four that have previously been featured as Dynamax Pokémon and can be effective against Wooloo during Max Mondays. Gigantamax Machamp is likely your best option if you’ve managed to catch one. It remains a strong contender in many of the GO Battle League Cups, making it arguably the top Fighting-type in the game.
Even without its Gigantamax form, Dynamax Machamp is still robust enough to handle Wooloo effectively.
If you caught Dynamax Passimian during its previous appearance on Max Monday, it’s a solid choice to use. Although it may not be the strongest Fighting-type, Dynamax Falinks can certainly clinch the victory by itself and is likely present in many trainers’ collections since its introduction. Lastly, if you got your hands on Dynamax Kubfu when it was released earlier this year, it can quickly take down Wooloo as well. However, any strong non-Ghost Pokémon is also a viable option. While Wooloo may be considered one of the weaker Dynamax Pokémon in Pokémon GO, using the right counters will help you secure a win during Max Mondays.
