Mibuno Castle is the nearest fortress to Naoe’s hometown in Iga, but it’s not something that demands immediate attention in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. However, it’s definitely enjoyable to explore. The task of collecting the treasures within is simpler compared to many of the larger fortresses in the game. Within these castles, you can find legendary chests filled with impressive loot, but be prepared to face tough samurai daisho enemies that must be dealt with before accessing the treasures.
At Mibuno Castle, there are only two samurai daisho to contend with, making it relatively easy for either Naoe or Yasuke to reach the legendary chest. If you play your cards right, it’s entirely feasible to loot Mibuno Castle without triggering alert status or getting into tricky situations.
Finding Mibuno Castle
Where to Locate Mibuno Castle in Iga
You’ll find Mibuno Castle located in the far eastern part of the Assassin’s Creed Shadows map within the Iga region, specifically just northwest of Naoe’s House in Mibuno Vale. The castle is perched on a hill, making it visible but slightly off the beaten path. If you’ve already visited the Tejikara Vista viewpoint and synced, you can fast travel to shorten your journey.
Locations of Samurai Daisho in Mibuno Castle
Where to Find the Two Daisho
While Yasuke can generally handle himself in a fight at Mibuno Castle, reaching the samurai daisho can be more challenging if you’re aiming for stealth. The first is positioned in the guard tower at the southern end of the castle, allowing for an opportunity to climb and take him out before proceeding through the rest of the fortress. However, entering through the front may expose you, so I opted to use the grapple hook to silently ascend the back of the castle, leaving the first daisho for later.

In Assassin’s Creed Shadows, using the Guaranteed Assassination feature comes with various pros and cons that you should weigh carefully.
The second daisho is located in the central courtyard, directly across from another soldier. To avoid engaging both at once, you can sneak up from behind quickly to execute one assassination or use a kunai or other ranged weapon to take out the weaker foe. I acquired the Wrath of the Oni Epic Trinket from this daisho’s remains, but your outcome may vary.
Location of the Legendary Chest in Mibuno Castle
Easily Accessible Legendary Chest
Mibuno Castle lacks a tenshu tower, so you’ll find the chest simply located inside the building at the back of the courtyard. The chest is positioned against the north wall. If you opted to enter from the front, both daisho should already be dealt with when you reach the chest. However, you can always choose a different route to double back. When you open the chest, you’ll receive the following rewards:
- Minogame’s Protection
- Engraving for Damage on Empty Armor Pieces
- 2 Mastery Points
- 3,000 XP
Minogame’s Protection is a Legendary Trinket that grants a +50% damage boost for each empty Armor Piece, allowing for a unique playstyle that can make gameplay more thrilling and risky than with standard trinkets in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
Additional Rewards in Mibuno Castle
Chests, Resources, & A Codex Entry
Even though Mibuno Castle’s overall loot quality is classified as Low, you can still discover a few valuable items. A mid-sized chest is located within the structure along the western wall, with the most notable loot found at the northern end of the castle.
- The kura key can be found in a shed in the northwest corner of the castle grounds.
- Along the rear wall, the long building and the shed unlocked by the kura key contain additional smuggling resources.
- Just below the northeast corner lies more resources, another mid-sized chest, and some rations for refueling.
You can also come across several smaller chests scattered throughout Mibuno Castle, rewarding you for exploring all the buildings and climbing the towers. Additionally, in the center of the courtyard, a codex entry on Kubi-jikken, or “head inspection,” is available. If you’re looking for a quick getaway, you can grab most of what you need after dispatching the daisho and making a clear run through the northern buildings of the castle.
