Billy the Puppet is undeniably one of the most memorable characters in modern horror, having frightened audiences for over twenty years through the Saw series. So, it’s only natural that he would make an appearance in Fortnite during its annual Halloween celebration, Fortnitemares. Available for purchase in the item shop, players can also find him lurking on the map, ready to challenge as a new boss.
Every Fortnite season introduces boss fights scattered throughout the map, giving players the opportunity to face off against unique foes and earn high-quality weapons. For the 2024 Fortnitemares event, Billy the Puppet from the Saw films has been introduced as a limited-time boss. Not only does he add a chilling atmosphere to the season, but he also drops an exciting new weapon called the Boom Billy for players to test out.
Where to Locate Billy in Fortnite
Discover Him Inside a Weird Television in a Spooky Spot
Billy can be found at the new Freaky Fields POI, which has taken over Reckless Railways in the heart of the Fortnite map. Once you land here, keep an eye out for a large house with white walls and a black roof. This distinctive building is the only house in the area, making it easy to locate; however, I’ve marked it on the screenshot above for your reference.
Since Freaky Fields is a brand-new spot and there’s a quest sending players here, it’s likely to become the most visited location during the Fortnitemares event. Plan to land here right at the start of a match to maximize your chances of encountering Billy before others do.
Enter through the front door and search for a side room that contains a retro television set. You’ll know you’re in the right spot when a chilling video of Billy appears on the screen. Press and hold the button next to the “Investigate” prompt (on PS5, this is Square), and Billy will burst from the TV to attack you.
How to Overcome Billy in Fortnite
A Simple Foe, But Be Cautious of His Pickaxe Attacks
When Billy launches out of the television, he will initiate attacks with his pickaxe. The good news? That’s his only method of attacking, so as long as you maintain a safe distance, you should be fine. He also has less health compared to other Fortnite bosses. I managed to beat him with just a low-tier shotgun by landing a few headshots.
If your goal is only to complete the “Find and Defeat Billy” quest and you don’t need the weapons he drops, just shoot him once and then retreat. If he’s taken down by anyone, you will still fulfill the quest criteria.
The primary challenge in taking down Billy in Fortnite comes from other players who want to defeat him too. I learned this the hard way when I eliminated Billy, only to be unexpectedly attacked by another player afterward. To avoid this, try to defeat Billy quickly, grab his loot, and then make a hasty exit before you attract unwanted attention!
