Temtem: Swarm offers an engaging twist on the classic game, allowing players to embody the Temtem themselves in a survival and roguelike setting. Each Temtem has its own distinct abilities and survival capabilities, making decision-making a crucial aspect of gameplay.
As you explore, you’ll encounter various upgrades, capture different Temtem, and invest in skills. While it’s easy to dive in, mastering the game requires time and adaptation to develop a unique playstyle. No matter which Temtem you choose to specialize in, these handy tips will assist you in refining your skills.
Note: This game is currently in Early Access, so expect changes with future updates!
Switching Between Automatic and Manual Aiming
If you’re new to the game, you’ll find that actively aiming your attacks while moving helps you clear out enemy-filled zones more effectively, allowing for smoother progress. However, there are moments when it’s beneficial to let the game handle targeting while you focus on dodging and positioning yourself. Striking a balance is essential, especially if your Temtem specializes in ranged attacks.
When faced with intense swarms, keep your momentum forward and allow auto-attack to dispatch enemies behind you.
Upgrade Your Magnetic Abilities
Among the upgrades available early on, investing in the Magnetic Module is essential! This ability pulls resources towards you as you navigate the map, obliterating enemies in your path. By the time you’re at level four with this ability, you’ll be able to grab items from a distance, which is particularly advantageous in boss battles.
Instead of viewing your ultimate attack as purely offensive, consider it a tool. Prioritize your movement towards objectives while avoiding enemies, and then unleash your ultimate to eliminate pursuing foes or take down a tough boss.
Temtem: Swarm emphasizes the importance of survival and combat skills, so using the game’s movement mechanics effectively will be crucial.
Look for Collectibles Around You
As you navigate the map, keep an eye out for breakable objects that might otherwise go unnoticed. These include items like boxes that yield valuable resources after they’re destroyed. Many of these resources can also be obtained after defeating a challenging enemy.
While collectibles may not be clearly marked on the map, they often emit a subtle purple or violet hue. It’s better to attack these items manually rather than relying on auto-attack, especially when evading hordes of enemies.
Replace Items and Abilities When Needed
Periodically, you’ll have to make choices that can influence your gameplay. When your Temtem levels up, you might gain a new ability or gear item. If the new option offers better synergy, don’t hesitate to discard your old ability in favor of it.
It’s perfectly fine to choose a new ability when it becomes available. For example, if you’re inclined to upgrade defenses, opting for a defensive gear item like the Fortify Band might serve you better than sticking with a technique like Blockade.
Tip: Regularly check your current abilities by pausing the game.
Focus on Upgrading Survival Skills First
As you gain experience, you can enhance your Temtem’s attributes such as attack power, speed, and defense. Prioritize speed and strength over brute force early on; this enhances your ability to survive the more formidable enemies you will encounter as you play.
Upgrading survival skills will better prepare your Temtem to face the harsh challenges of the game and ensure you gather abilities as you progress.
Picking a Temtem
At the start, you’ll have a choice between two Temtem. Even if ranged combat is your preference, we highly recommend starting with Smazee. Its melee attacks become progressively stronger throughout battles, allowing you to bulldoze through enemy swarms as you evolve into an even more powerful form.
Regardless of your initial choice, always evolve your Temtem as soon as possible. While optional, it’s beneficial for both solo players and teams, especially as game difficulty escalates. Occasionally, it makes sense to select an ability instead of evolving, so weigh your decision based on your Temtem’s current effectiveness.
Tip: While using Smazee, implement techniques like Haito Uchi and Martial Strike for short to medium-range attacks.
Mix Up Your Arsenal
Upgrading diverse techniques is crucial as you face swarms and objectives. Creating a well-rounded skill set enhances your resilience during battles, particularly against the final boss. If your Temtem specializes in melee attacks, incorporating some long-range capabilities can help maintain safety in combat. Attacks like Boomerang and Data Burst work well for this purpose.
To keep your arsenal flexible, try to have melee and ranged attacks without replacing any essential abilities.
Take Part in Events
As the gameplay advances, managing your movement can get complicated. Events will appear periodically, requiring your participation to achieve specific objectives. Make these events a priority, as they often provide rewards and opportunities that enhance your gameplay.
Events can pop up at various locations on the map and may unlock new Temtem or grant other valuable resources.
Tip: If an event requires you to stay put, try to move around within the area instead of standing still.
Stay Aware of Healing Items
Aside from skill upgrades and new abilities, you’ll find items scattered throughout the map that can help heal your Temtem. While these may not be immediately noticeable during intense combat, it’s beneficial to keep an eye on the corners of your screen.
Every so often, you’ll come across a healing item, such as fruit, which will restore a portion of your Temtem’s health when you pass over it. Although these items aren’t long-term solutions for maintaining health, they can be helpful when facing tough foes. Aim to acquire upgrades that improve health and healing during battles.
