How to Save Your Game in REPO
If you’re looking to save your progress in REPO, there’s some unfortunate news: manual saving isn’t an option. The game employs an autosave system that activates only at specific checkpoints. Knowing these autosave moments is crucial, as it will inform you when it’s safe to exit. However, if you happen to die during gameplay, your save file will be permanently erased.
In this guide, we will outline when REPO saves your game, how co-op saves operate, and ways to secure your save files from deletion. Even though you can’t save manually, you can create a backup save.
Autosave Points in REPO
REPO automatically saves your game every time you enter the Service Station (the in-game shop, as shown in the image) or when you start a new level. Essentially, your first game will only be saved after successfully completing the first stage. If you exit before this point, all your progress will be lost, and you’ll have to start over.
To ensure your upgrades are saved, purchase the desired items at the Service Station, proceed to the next level, and when you launch the game again, you’ll resume from the beginning of that new level, all set with your new items.
When you reach a save point, press ‘escape,’ select ‘main menu,’ and confirm with ‘yes’ to exit the game. To find your saved file when you return, choose ‘singleplayer’ or ‘host game.’ If you have multiple files, you can distinguish them by checking the date, level, time played, and total loot value. Simply click ‘load save’ to continue.
The Importance of Co-op Saves
In REPO, if you’re playing in co-op mode, only the host’s game will be saved. This means if you joined a friend’s session, you won’t be able to access that game later on your own. It’s essential for the host to maintain a reliable internet connection, so choose wisely, as switching hosts mid-game will force everyone involved to start from the very beginning.
As the host, you can invite friends to any of your saved games, even those from singleplayer mode. You can also switch from a co-op save to playing solo. Just make sure not to mix up your co-op and solo save files!
How to Create Backup Save Files
While you must follow checkpoint rules to save your progress in REPO, creating a backup save file is an effective way to safeguard against potential losses. Here’s how it works: duplicate your save file, play the game, and if you die due to some in-game misfortune, your standard save will get deleted. However, with the backup, you won’t have to restart from level 1.
To back up your save file, first, locate the file’s directory. Type ‘AppData’ in your search bar to find it (note that AppData is contained within your user folder). Go to ‘LocalLow,’ then ‘semiwork,’ followed by ‘Repo’ and ‘saves.’ Copy the save file you want to back up and paste it in the same folder. To avoid confusion, cut and paste it back to the previous ‘Repo’ folder instead.
If you die, exit the game, return to the save location, and remove the ‘- Copy’ part of the file name. Move this file back to the ‘saves’ folder. Restart REPO, and you can continue where you left off! Bear in mind, a backup file won’t track your new progress, so if you reach another save point, repeat the backup process.
