Players are in for a surprise in Potionomics: if they don’t win by Day Ten, the game ends. It’s not merely a chill, cozy experience; gamers must strategize and plan carefully to avoid an early finish.
At the heart of the game lies a primary storyline. To reach the end, players must conquer all their potion-making rivals and prove themselves as the best. Winning competitions involves brewing the right potions, which requires effective management of time, resources, and finances. Here’s how to get ready for the showdown with Roxanne.
Create Common Potions or Higher
Your journal will outline the types of potions required for the upcoming competition. Press X on the main screen or during potion-making to access your journal, where the last page contains your calendar and tasks for the competition.
Basic potions and tonics won’t suffice; your opponents will be producing top-tier potions at this stage of the game. You’ll need at least Common-tier potions to compete effectively against Roxanne on Day Ten.
To craft more powerful potions, you’ll need to increase the magimin ratio significantly. For example, if a potion recipe requires 1:1 red and yellow magimin, you can adjust it to 12:12 by adding enough ingredients and magimins. This enhancement leads to a stronger potion.
The game doesn’t explicitly indicate how to create larger potions and tonics, so you’ll need to keep adding the same type of magimins to boost the potion’s size and potency.
Remember that specific cauldrons can hold only a limited number of ingredients and magimins. You’ll unlock MukTuk, a character close to Day Ten who sells cauldron and shelf upgrades. However, you may not have enough resources for upgrades just yet, so be mindful of the limited capacity of your cauldron.
While brewing, you can track how many additional ingredients you need for the next-tier potion, displayed at the top of the screen.
As you progress through your first week, new areas such as the Bone Wasteland and Mushroom Forest will become accessible just a few days before the competition, offering stronger ingredients.
How to Craft a Common Health Potion
You can make a Minor Health Potion using one Feyberry and one Mandrake Root from the Enchanted Forest. However, you need more powerful ingredients to produce stronger potions.
Send Mint out to gather better ingredients. Give some of these to Quinn so they can sell them in the shop, making them easier to access.
Here’s a breakdown of ingredients containing red and green magimins:
Ingredient | Number of Magimins | Location |
---|---|---|
Fairy Flower Bud | 12 red | Bone Wastes |
Leech Snail’s Shell | 12 red, 12 green | Bone Wastes |
Figment Pomme | 18 green, 6 yellow | |
Bog Beet | 27 green | Mushroom Mire |
Golemite | 18 red, 12 green, 10 blue | Bone Wastes |
Horned Jelly | 18 red | Bone Wastes |
If you find an ingredient with the right amount of a certain magimin but with extras you don’t need, you can still use it—just ensure the necessary magimins are in a higher amount to outweigh the others.
How to Craft a Common Mana Potion
Regularly, a Sack of Slime and Mandrake Root will produce a Minor Mana Potion. However, these contain low magimin values. Utilize ingredients with higher magimin counts to create potent potions, as you will receive a few Common Mana Potions as gifts throughout your first week. You can either reserve them for the competition or sell them early. It’s beneficial to create extras, so you can sell off what you don’t require.
Ingredient | Number of Magimins | Location |
---|---|---|
Golem’s Eye Diamond | 12 green, 12 yellow | Bone Wastes |
Rotfly Cocoon | 12 yellow | Bone Wastes |
Unicorn Horn | 8 yellow | Enchanted Forest |
Crocodile Tooth | 6 red, 12 yellow | Mushroom Mire |
Qilin’s Tri-Horn | 24 yellow | Mushroom Mire |
Figment Pomme | 18 green, 6 yellow | Bone Wastes |
Trollstool Mushroom | 12 green | Mushroom Mire |
When Should You Brew Competition Potions?
Start preparing your competition potions as soon as possible so you can focus on earning money during the week instead of managing both shop duties and potion-making. To avoid accidentally selling your competition potions, place them on display shelves, ensuring you remember to retrieve them before the competition day.
Brewing higher-tier potions may require a full day or two. By Day Five, you’ll gain access to Quinn and Mint, who will provide you with essential ingredients, putting you in a position to start crafting the necessary potions. Aim to have your potions ready at least three to four days prior to the competition.
How to Defeat Roxanne in the Competition
Even if you craft the same tier of potion as Roxanne, she will typically set a higher price for hers. When bargaining with Robin, your goal is to sell your potions for at least one dollar more than hers.
During the competition, her potions may be priced at 60 gold for a Common Health Potion and 75 gold for a Common Fire Tonic. If you stumble on one deal, you can still win the competition as long as your other potions fetch a decent price.
While it’s beneficial to have Common potions or better, it’s not strictly necessary, as you can use buffs to increase Interest enough to sell your potions for similar or even better prices. Ultimately, the game revolves around managing stress and leveraging your cards effectively to boost interest.
