Sony Interactive Entertainment has released the second firmware update for July 2026, titled PS5 system software update 26.05-13.60.00. Expect to download just over 1 GB of data if you have a PS5 or PS5 Pro. As usual, there are no major features or enhancements to get excited about with this release.
According to the official patch notes, the update focuses on “improving messages and usability on some screens.” The previous update, launched at the start of July (version 26.04-13.42.00), aimed to boost system performance and stability.
There’s nothing else notable in this update. The last significant update for the PS5 was the PSSR 2.0 release for the PS5 Pro, which introduced new Welcome Hub features, including Showcase Mode—displaying a full view of the selected Welcome Hub background when idle—and Slideshow Mode, allowing users to set an album as their background with automatic rotation.
Currently, this firmware update doesn’t appear to include any hidden or stealth changes. We’ll keep an eye out and update our readers if new information emerges.
