Natlan’s exploration in Genshin Impact stands out thanks to the unique Saurians. These creatures enhance the excitement of exploring the region, allowing players to ride them and efficiently navigate the expansive landscapes of Natlan.
Each Saurian offers distinct abilities that enable you to cover ground quickly throughout Natlan. There are three types of Saurians available, and using them strategically can save you considerable time when trying to reach various locations within the area.
Updated November 27, 2024 by Rabiya Rizwan: The Genshin Impact 5.2 update introduces two new Saurians. Additional information regarding their abilities and usage has been included, enhancing your exploration experience in the open world.
How to Ride Saurians
There are three Saurians that players can ride in Natlan. The Tepetlisaurus is recognizable by its rocky brown appearance. The Koholasaurus has a shark-like shape and resides in water, while the Yumkasaurus is fast, features a green body, and has a long tongue.
To utilize a Saurian’s abilities, you need Phlogiston energy. If you run low on it, switching to another Saurian may be wise.
To ride a Saurian, approach it until a marker called a Spiritsconce appears. This indicates that you can mount it. A glowing button will appear on your screen for you to press to start riding. The controls may vary based on your gaming platform.
How to Dismount a Saurian
To exit a Saurian, you must hold the eject button until you are no longer inside its body. After dismounting, the Saurian will still display the Indwelling Mark, allowing you to re-ride it later.
This strategy is helpful if you plan to switch between different Saurians in one location.
Tepetlisaurus: Functions and Abilities
The Tepetlisaurus is a Geo Saurian that allows you to ascend mountains quickly, saving time and effort. If you engage with a Molten Fissure, the Tepetlisaurus will automatically lead you to the endpoint of the fissure, helping you discover more areas during your adventures.
The Tepetlisaurus can stay buried underground, allowing you to continue moving while remaining low. You can also jump by pressing the jump button. Additionally, it can smash through obstacles and inflict damage with its basic attack.
You can use the Tepetlisaurus to tackle specific puzzles. If you spot a rock with a glowing mark, interact with it to begin a puzzle. Look for round dusty spots on the ground, use its ability to dig, then perform a basic attack in the circle until you activate them all to receive a Luxurious Chest as a reward.
Yumkasaurus: Functions and Abilities
The Yumkasaurus, a Dendro Saurian, is commonly found in the Scions of The Canopy region. Riding it can be advantageous as it offers various abilities.
The Yumkasaurus enables leaps between cliffs using its skill, which extends its long, sticky tongue to grab surfaces. You can activate the ability by pressing the button to cling to a nearby object or hold it to aim at a targeted area. The Yumkasaurus also has the ability to ascend vertical surfaces for a short distance.
You can find many Coilgrass Sigils to travel or aim the Yumkasaurus’ ability at them. Some special Coilgrass Sigils are colored green, which you can interact with to create Leaves of Repose, platforms that help you reach various locations.
Sometimes, Spores of Repose will attach to you, enabling you to create more Leaf of Repose platforms while jumping.
The Yumkasaurus can also deal significant damage to nearby foes if you store a Flamagranate in its mouth. You can move while holding the bomb and detonate it near enemies to deal Pyro damage. It can also inflict Dendro damage with its regular attacks.
Moreover, the Yumkasaurus can carry relay balls in its mouth, which you can shoot at platforms to activate them. Remember, the ball and platform colors must match for it to work.
Koholasaurus: Functions and Abilities
The Koholasaurus is a Hydro Saurian that allows you to swim across water areas in Natlan. Using the ringed vortexes called Jet Set Eddies, it can jump high, helping you access elevated regions near water.
The Koholasaurus can also guide you along the Spiritways filled with flowing Phlogiston, enabling rapid travel between locations. Additionally, it possesses a dashing ability for swift swimming. Make sure the Spiritways you wish to use are activated.
Challenges may arise in water that you can navigate with the Koholasaurus. For instance, if you see a round sphere above the water, activate it to initiate a challenge, prompting you to gather particles using the Koholasaurus’ abilities.
Iktomisaurus: Functions and Abilities
The Iktomisaurus resembles a bat and can help you reach significant heights quickly. With its powerful wings, it can dash vertically into the sky, assisting you in exploring elevated areas.
This Saurian can also aid in resolving certain puzzles by gathering hidden Phlogiston while in the Spiritspeaker state, allowing you to access restricted areas.
The Iktomisaurus can jump higher if you attack a Spiritstone to claim it.
Qucusaurus: Functions and Abilities
By riding a Qucusaurus, players can fly high above the ground. Exploration becomes easier since you can reach numerous locations, as long as your Phlogiston supply lasts. Look for boosters known as Scorchwind Conflux to quickly recharge your Phlogiston and maintain flight.
The Qucusaurus glides like a regular character, but its special abilities allow you to ascend to tough-to-reach areas. You can also quickly plunge back to the ground. If you perform a dash into the sky, you’ll fly significantly faster.
This Saurian can explore Gaseous Phlogiston areas without suffering burn damage. These gases also create wind currents you can ride with your Qucusaurus. You’ll also find Phlogiston Wind Tunnels, which facilitate rapid travel from one point to another.
