Monster Hunter Wilds has finally rolled out its much-anticipated title update, introducing a wealth of new and returning elements to amplify the gameplay. This update features a vast new gathering hub and the introduction of Palico Chefs, along with some of the most formidable monsters that Wilds has introduced to date. While Zoh Shia takes the spotlight with its visually stunning battles and unique gear, players may find that getting into a hunt is a bit more challenging than with other monsters.
Siege battles are a familiar aspect of the Monster Hunter series, with Monster Hunter World showcasing several memorable encounters like Zorah Magdaros, Kulve Taroth, and Safi’jiiva. However, unlike the enhanced Mizutsune and its tempered variant, you don’t have the option to easily accept a quest or stumble upon Zoh Shia in the natural habitats of Wilds. This can lead to some frustration for those eager to gather specific monster parts or relive their favorite battles, though Wilds still provides reliable methods for re-encountering rare monsters.
Zoh Shia Can Only Be Encountered During Limited Events
Getting into a Hunt with Zoh Shia is Often the Toughest Challenge
Once you complete the title update missions to defeat Zoh Shia, you won’t be able to jump back into the hunt immediately to collect all its valuable materials for armor and weapons. Unlike regular quests, Zoh Shia behaves similarly to Wilds‘ Jin Dahaad, making rare appearances at random times when you accept a quest. To expedite locating a Zoh Shia hunt, you can visit any Ruins of Wyveria camp and adjust the weather to Inclemency, but you might still encounter a prolonged wait before seeing one.
Although you can save a Zoh Shia quest as an investigation for up to three additional hunts, the most dependable method for farming Zoh Shia is through public SOS quests listed at the bottom of Alma’s quest screen. This approach also allows you to choose Investigations, which can yield valuable rewards and experienced teammates. Be quick, though—finding a suitable quest often requires refreshing the list multiple times to join one before it’s filled up.
Preparation Is Key to Fighting Zoh Shia
Entering Without the Right Gear is a Surefire Way to Fail
Given the difficulty of securing a Zoh Shia quest, especially for those rare materials, it’s crucial to be well-prepared for the upcoming battle. While many Monster Hunter Wilds encounters up until now may have felt straightforward, Zoh Shia marks a significant challenge within the game’s post-game content, standing alongside Gore Magala and Arkveld. To maximize your rewards, begin by ensuring your armor is properly upgraded.
Eating meals that confer bonus effects, carrying several stat-boosting potions like Mega Armorskin and Mega Demondrug, or donning armor and gems with defensive enhancements can significantly improve your chances of surviving an encounter with Zoh Shia. If you believe in your skills as a hunter, hunting alone or with a friend can result in more resource gathering, particularly if you’ve completed related optional quests to let your Palico gather additional materials. With the tough challenges and new features promised in future updates, developing a habit of thorough preparation is essential before tackling demanding hunts in Monster Hunter Wilds.
