Once you’ve finished the quest “The Sword and the Quill,” your next adventure in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is called “Speak of the Devil.” After discovering that Margrave Jobst turned away the Dry Devil, you’ll team up with Zizka to track him down.
The Dry Devil has a fierce reputation, but you’ll soon find out that he has been captured. This quest is one of the most entertaining so far, featuring some challenging moments. Here, we’ll guide you through completing this quest smoothly.
Follow Zizka to the Devil’s Den
After you meet Jobst in “The Sword and the Quill,” simply follow Zizka for a while and strike up a conversation until the option for fast travel pops up. The journey is lengthy, so it’s best to fast travel. Upon arrival, you’ll trigger a cutscene.
This cutscene will show a group of men picking on a drunkard who happens to be Zizka’s friend, prompting you to engage in combat. Defeat the enemies, then speak with Kubyenka, who will inform you that the Dry Devil is now in captivity.
Your main task is to rescue him, and for that, you’ll need some supplies. Kubyenka has hidden some hand cannons near his camp, but he’s uncertain where exactly. So, you’ll need to follow him a bit to uncover their location.
Follow Kubyenka to Find the Hand Cannons
Mount your horse and follow Kubyenka. Engage him in conversation along the way, as the distance isn’t short. When you arrive at the location, tag along as he leads you to his camp. If you don’t have a spade, it’s a good idea to pick one up from the camp since you’ll need to do some digging shortly.
Continue to follow Kubyenka, who will take you to a location. You won’t find the hand cannons just yet, so go through the dialogue options and follow him to the next spot. Shortly after, he’ll ask you to retrieve some booze from the water. You can either get the booze or decide to ignore the request by picking the third option.
If you choose to get the booze, it won’t take long, so it’s better to do it. Afterward, chat with Kubyenka and share some booze with him. Keep following him, and he’ll take you to another area. Start digging, and this time, you’ll uncover a grave where you can loot a few items from the body inside.
After exhausting the dialogues, follow Kubyenka again, and he will lead you to the right spot. Dig there, and you will find the firearms. Now, hop back on your horse and accompany him to the ambush location. As you ride, Kubyenka will start singing, and it’s quite a humorous tune.
The song is hilarious, so let him sing and give him compliments; it’ll make your journey much more enjoyable.
How to Save the Dry Devil
When you reach the ambush site, talk to Zizka. He’ll inquire about your experience with Kubyenka. Select the second option to witness yet another amusing exchange. Zizka will then share his strategy for ambushing the enemy, which leads to a cutscene.
If you have a decent skill level, you should succeed, and some enemies may flee, easing your fight. If you don’t pass the skill check, however, some allies may run, raising the difficulty of the battle.
Your team will fire the hand cannons at the enemies, but none will be hit, setting up another comedic moment. Soon, you’ll face three skill checks; if your skills are low, opt for the first choice: “I will shoot, but in your belly!”
It’s wise to take out a few enemies with your hand cannon since it’s already loaded. While Zizka and the others are fighting, reload and shoot at the enemies. Make sure to target the knight in armor, as you can eliminate him with a single shot; just remember that reloading takes some time.
So, it’s preferable to choose the option without the skill requirement. Now, engage in battle, keeping an eye on the heavily armored foes. Let Zizka confront him while you attack from a safe distance. Once you’ve defeated all your enemies, talk to Zizka and select “Shall we head out?” to enter the Devil’s Den.
Engage in all the dialogue options and agree to assist Zizka and the Dry Devil. After this, the quest will conclude, allowing you to unlock two more quests: Into the Underworld and The Devil’s Pack. Feel free to choose either quest to start first.
