Fortunately, similar to previous Atlus titles, important gameplay features will transfer over, allowing players to manage their time in dungeons more efficiently while tackling other quests.
But the excitement of New Game+ isn’t just about carryover items. Those seeking an extra challenge can face a secret boss that only appears in New Game+, known as the Redscale Apocalypse Dragon.
Getting started with New Game+ is straightforward. To unlock this feature, you must first finish the main campaign and witness the true ending of Metaphor: ReFantazio, where the screen displays “Fantasy Lives On…” followed by the credits.

After the credits roll, you’ll be prompted to create a clear data file, marking the beginning of your New Game+ adventure. Once you access that file, you can officially embark on your New Game+ journey.

For instance, players can’t access all archetypes right away without first engaging with the respective Followers. Whatever does carry over is meant to enhance your replay experience and assist in obtaining achievements that may have been challenging during the first playthrough.

You will keep your Archetype progress, but they won’t be immediately available until you unlock them again through the story. Once you do, they’ll have all your prior progress intact.
One of the key features that carries over is your Royal Virtues, or Social Stats. Though this may seem minor, it provides greater flexibility in managing your time before various deadlines. Since you won’t need to spend time boosting your Royal Virtues, you can focus on different activities, such as treasure hunting or leveling up in dungeons.

While there’s plenty to retain, it may not be worth the effort to grind levels in your first playthrough if you plan to continue playing in New Game+. However, it’s beneficial to farm items and equipment, as these carry over and are crucial in the early stages of your second playthrough, helping you level up your character more efficiently.
Engaging in a second playthrough with some advantages is just one of the appealing aspects of New Game+ in Metaphor: ReFantazio. You probably encountered a mysterious book during your first run, The Book of Apocalypse, but were unable to interact with it.
