Across the world of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, you’ll discover various shops where you can buy items for your companions, gear for yourself, and upgrades for your existing equipment. One shop you’ll visit frequently is the Caretaker’s store, located in the courtyard of The Lighthouse, which serves as the main hub of the game.
The Caretaker is there to help you enhance your gear and that of your companions. However, to unlock the more powerful upgrades necessary for tougher battles later in the game, you’ll need to improve your relationship with him. This is achieved by collecting Caretaker Reputation Points, which can be quite a challenge to accumulate.
How to Earn Caretaker Reputation Points
You can earn Caretaker Reputation Points primarily through exploration. While wandering the world of Dragon Age, you will come across Mementos, which are collectibles scattered throughout. For every Memento you pick up, you receive 50 Caretaker Reputation Points.
Completing specific story quests will also net you some points, often in the hundreds. However, this shouldn’t be your main strategy for leveling up the shop, so treat those moments as pleasant bonuses when they occur.
Where to Find Mementos
Mementos can be found in various locations. Look on tables in faction headquarters, breakable boxes scattered throughout cities, or even from faction vendors.
You can buy Mementos for about 150 gold. They function just like any regular Memento, being added to your Library and granting 50 Caretaker Reputation Points.
To upgrade the Caretaker’s shop, you’ll need to find a substantial number of Mementos. For example, to reach the second rank, you need 750 Reputation Points. Therefore, stay alert during your explorations and while completing quests. Fortunately, after finishing the initial story quests, there are many opportunities to discover Mementos regularly.
