Heart Scale Farming Guide for Pokémon Ultra Sun and Moon

Heart Scales enable your Pokémon to recall forgotten moves, and collecting them has become more manageable in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Moon. These valuable items are quite rare, making them a challenge to obtain as rewards; this is where farming comes into play.

For instance, Luvdisc boasts a 50% chance of dropping a Heart Scale. This means that about half of your attempts will come up empty. This guide will cover all the necessary information you’ll need for farming this item in Pokémon USUM.

1. Catching Wild Pokémon

One effective strategy to farm Heart Scales is by catching Pokémon on Route 13 that are already in possession of a Heart Scale. After catching one, check its summary page to determine if it’s holding the item.

If it is, you can keep it in your collection. If not, simply release that Pokémon and try capturing another. While this method can be a bit tedious, it’s a solid way to kick off your Heart Scale farming journey.

2. Fishing on Route 13

Another method for farming Heart Scales is fishing on Route 13. This approach resembles catching Pokémon, but instead, you’ll be reeling in fish that may hold Heart Scales. Simply cast your line, wait for a nibble, and bring in your catch. After catching a fish, check its summary page to see if it’s carrying a Heart Scale. Use the Thief move to claim it if it is.

3. Dining at Restaurants

From the Pokémon Center located at Seafolk Village on Alola Island, head down to the nearby restaurant and order a dish to receive Heart Scales in return. However, ensure that you’ve beaten the Kahuna on the island first to make this farming technique effective.

Additionally, there’s another restaurant in Malie City where consuming a dish nets you four Heart Scales. Lastly, the eatery in Konikoni City on Akala Island also rewards you with four Heart Scales for your meal.

4. Festival Plaza

You can also send a Pokémon with the Pickup ability to the Haunted House, where they might occasionally return with Heart Scales.

How to Use Heart Scales?

Once you have a Heart Scale, bring it along with your desired Pokémon to the Move Reminder found at the Pokémon Center on Mount Lanakila, situated on Ula’ula Island. Here, you’ll be presented with a comprehensive list of available moves.
