Sony Interactive Entertainment is once again removing purchased titles from the PlayStation library. Following similar actions in 2022 and 2023, UK players have been notified that they will lose access to all Studio Canal titles in their video collections due to licensing agreements.

This isn’t the first instance of Sony pulling purchased content from the PlayStation library. In December 2023, Sony announced that users would eventually lose access to all their purchased Discovery TV shows, leading to widespread concern. The company didn’t offer refunds, but they extended the deadline for content removal after significant backlash.

Currently, UK PlayStation users are informed that all Studio Canal titles will be gone from their libraries starting September 1, 2026, and no compensation will be provided.

The message states, “Due to licensing agreements, you will no longer be able to access previously purchased content from Studio Canal, and it will be removed from your video library.” Notably, some countries like Germany and Austria experienced similar content losses from Studio Canal back in 2022.

Although Sony discontinued movie and TV show purchases and rentals on the PlayStation Store in August 2021, PS5 and PS4 users can still buy video content through Sony Pictures Core.
