After a month of silence, Sony Interactive Entertainment quietly restored a key PS5 feature that had gone offline following a strange glitch in the PlayStation Store. As previously reported, players’ gameplay history disappeared from the PS5’s “Recently Played” section, sparking a flurry of conspiracy theories. It turns out, Sony was simply taking its time to fix the issue.
Around June 15, players suddenly noticed inappropriate games appearing in their libraries and in the Recently Played list—titles they hadn’t purchased. Sony temporarily removed the feature to address the problem. When it was brought back online, much of the gameplay data from the past two months was missing.
This morning, I checked the PS App, and all my missing stats are now restored and accurate. On my PS5 console, the Recently Played widget within the Welcome Hub is fully functional again.
While it’s good news that the issue has been resolved, it’s concerning that it took so long for Sony to fix network problems, especially as the company moves toward a digital-only platform. Additionally, Sony’s communication regarding these issues has been lacking. The company seems to maintain a policy of minimal outreach to its community.
