A highly anticipated PS5 action-adventure game appears to have been pushed back to 2028, possibly skipping a physical disc release as a result. Rumors of a potential delay for Tomb Raider: Catalyst surfaced several months ago, and just before the weekend, Amazon Games director Jeffrey Gattis seemingly confirmed the news.
During an appearance on The Game Business Show, Gattis indicated that Tomb Raider: Catalyst is now expected to launch in 2028. It’s important to note that Legacy of Atlantis, which is scheduled to come out before Catalyst, has already been delayed until February 2027.
“Atlantis is coming on February 12 of next year, and then we’ll follow up in 2028 with the next one,” Gattis explained.
There hasn’t been any official announcement yet, but Legacy of Atlantis was quietly delayed in a manner similar to Catalyst’s rumored postponement. The new release date for Legacy of Atlantis was casually revealed during the June 2026 PlayStation State of Play.
If Catalyst doesn’t arrive in January 2028, it’s possible it won’t be released on disc, as it could miss Sony’s manufacturing deadline for physical copies.
Details about Catalyst remain scarce. An official synopsis describes it as: “Set in the aftermath of a mythical catastrophe that has exposed ancient secrets and awakened mysterious guardian forces, Tomb Raider: Catalyst follows Lara Croft on a new journey across Northern India.”
