Monster Hunter Wilds: Upcoming Content and Future Roadmap
ADVERTISEMENT

The roadmap for Monster Hunter Wilds just received an exciting update following the March Showcase, introducing new monsters such as Mizutsune, an upgraded Rey Dau, Zoh Shia, and the often-overlooked Lagiacrus. With two title updates on the way, we’ve gathered the essential details about the new content headed to the game in the coming months. If you’re eager to discover what’s next in your hunting adventures, here’s the scoop on the Monster Hunter Wilds roadmap and its upcoming updates.

Monster Hunter Wilds Content Roadmap

Currently, the content roadmap for Monster Hunter Wilds is still developing, but we anticipate more details from Capcom following the game’s launch. As it stands, we know there will be at least two free title updates, with an outline indicating what to expect in both the spring and summer. The roadmap hints that there’s more to come.

For those hoping for a Master Rank at launch, that won’t be the case. There’s no indication that this level of difficulty will be introduced within the current roadmap timeline. Historically, Master Rank has been released with major expansions (like Iceborne for MH World and Sunbreak for MH Rise), so it’s likely that Monster Hunter Wilds will follow that same pattern, although no specific expansion details have been announced.

Additionally, two Cosmetic DLC Packs will be released exclusively for players who own the Premium Deluxe Edition. These packs will feature Layered Armor and Pendants for customizing your character’s look.

Here are the specifics for each of the announced title updates:

Monster Hunter Wilds Title Update 1

Title Update 1 is set to launch on Thursday, April 3 (PDT) / Friday, April 4 (BST). It will deliver the following content and set the stage for future updates:

  • Mizutsune: This large, serpentine monster makes its return, reminiscent of a mythical kitsune fox crossed with a crocodile. Brace yourself for a formidable encounter.
  • Zoh Shia: Previously a one-off battle during the storyline, Zoh Shia will now be a repeatable fight for players at HR50 and above.
  • The Grand Hub social area: This will be a space for players to interact, featuring minigames like barrel bowling and arm-wrestling, accessible to HR16 players and above through Tetsuzan in Suja, the Peaks of Accord.
  • Arena Quests: These unique challenges focus on speed, where you aim to complete hunts faster than players around the world.
  • Alma Outfits: Players can customize Alma’s outfits back at the Camp Tent.
  • Free and Premium DLC Content: New free and paid content will be introduced for Premium Deluxe Edition owners and Cosmetic DLC Pass holders.
  • Arch-Tempered Rey Dau Event Quest (April 29 – May 20): An upgraded version of Rey Dau will appear, more powerful than before. Players can expect new armor along with this fight.
  • Seasonal Event Festival of Accord: Blossomdance (April 22 – May 6): This spring festival will transform the Grand Hub, offering new meal options and special limited-time cosmetic rewards.
  • Unannounced Capcom Collaboration (End of May): Details are still under wraps, but a collaboration with another Capcom title is in the works.

Monster Hunter Wilds Title Update 2

Information about the second major update for Monster Hunter Wilds remains limited at this time.

  • Lagiacrus: Though not officially confirmed, a brief glimpse of an unidentified monster during the March Showcase led many to speculate it is Lagiacrus, a water-based Leviathan that hasn’t appeared since Monster Hunter 3.
  • Event quests: Additional limited-time hunts and challenges will be provided with this update during the summer.
  • Cosmetic DLC Pack 2: For Premium Deluxe Edition owners, a second cosmetic pack is anticipated for the summer of 2025, though it may release independently from this update.

Two free title updates are thus set for the first six months after Monster Hunter Wilds’ release. We can expect more information about these updates and future content soon, and we will keep this guide updated as new developments arise.

Check out our Monster Hunter Wilds review, where we called it “the pinnacle of the series and an early contender for game of the year.”
