Alert: Spoilers ahead for episodes 2 and 4 of Daredevil: Born Again.
A frightening new antagonist has debuted in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and there are whispers about which actor might be portraying this enigmatic figure.
This ultra-violent character was first hinted at for a split second in the trailer, but the identity of the actor remained under wraps. The suspense surrounding the character has kept fans guessing, and the end credits may have revealed a significant clue. The initial hint came from an unsettling appearance by an actor from Wednesday in episode 2 of Daredevil: Born Again.
Curious about who Muse is and which actor might be stepping into the shoes of one of Marvel’s most unnerving villains? Keep reading to find out.

Muse is regarded as one of the most vicious villains in Marvel comic history, making his debut in Daredevil Vol. 5 #11 in 2016. He operates under just the name Muse with no alias or secret identity. His ability to become imperceptible makes him exceptionally difficult for Daredevil to track down and combat.
To make matters worse, he has a twisted penchant for creating art from the people he kills—some comic panels depict him using human blood for a mural and even an interactive display involving hanging multiple victims from the ceiling to bleed out. His trademark look features a white mask with gory eye holes and no mouth cutout—eerie enough on its own.
The trailer first teased his character, followed by glimpses of Matt Murdock in full costume in promotional images. Muse makes his actual appearance in episode 4 of Daredevil: Born Again, albeit briefly. In one scene, he’s seen carrying a body through a tunnel, and in another, he is actively draining blood from a still-conscious victim.

So, who is the actor behind Muse in Daredevil: Born Again? Fans have a theory, and we find it quite convincing. In episode 2, Hunter Doohan, known for his role in Wednesday, makes an unsettling appearance at Heather Glenn’s book event, saying, “I love your work. Dr. Glenn, I need help. Are you accepting new clients?” It’s the last we see of him in that episode.
In episode 4, Hunter Doohan appears as a special guest star, and although there’s no character name disclosed, his presence is notably absent from the rest of the episode. This opens up speculation that he, in fact, portrays Muse, especially since Muse only shows up in his terrifying bloody mask.
If this theory holds true, it suggests that Muse might be trying to get close to Heather Glenn to potentially target Matt Murdock. With five episodes remaining in the season, the possibilities are endless. As producer Dario Scardapane mentioned, “Muse represents the biggest challenge they face in this story. The world is in chaos. He embodies that chaos, and as he emerges and spreads fear throughout the city, it will push these two characters toward an inevitable confrontation.”
