Mastering the Storm and Sunken Ship in Romancing Saga 2: Revenge

Romancing Saga 2: The Divers’ Revenge

In "Romancing Saga 2: Revenge of the Seven," the Diver is a fascinating hybrid class that shines in the later stages of the game. This class excels not only as a skilled magic user with impressive water magic capabilities but also as a formidable combatant. With a powerful class ability under their belt, it quickly becomes clear why adding these graceful aquatic warriors to your team is a smart move.

To unlock the Diver class, players must embark on the Sunken Ship dungeon quest, ultimately confronting Garon, the ghost pirate. This guide will outline the necessary steps to access this dungeon and provide strategies for successfully navigating it.

The Storm and the Sunken Ship

To kick things off, you’ll first need to defeat Garon in the Garon’s Rebellion quest. Additionally, securing the Mermaid Potion by completing the Searching for the Mermaid quest is essential. After some time passes in-game, the quest titled "The Storm and the Sunken Ship" will become accessible. At this point, you can travel to Toba and begin your journey to recruit the Diver.

Meeting the Diver in Toba

Your initial task here involves chatting with villagers. Look for characters marked with quest icons above their heads and engage them in conversation. After gathering the necessary intel, head to the tavern to have a chat with the Diver. Next, speak with the sailor at the dock. With the Mermaid Potion in hand, you’ll gain access to the Sunken Ship, allowing you to dive deeper into this quest.

Clearing Out the Sunken Ship

Navigate to the hole in the ship’s hull and make your way through the door on your left. Inside, pass through the hole in the wall to exit into another room—don’t forget to sprint by the skeletons you encounter! Move left and ascend the stairs, where you can find a chest in the adjacent room. Once on the second floor, continue straight ahead and enter the door to your right. You’ll soon be teleported by a mysterious purple mist into a corridor with three additional doors. The first door on the right leads you past some debris and allows you to continue your journey.

From there, descend the stairs back to the first floor and head toward the middle door. You’ll need to dodge a couple of zombies as you head straight ahead. In the hallway, take a left and ascend the stairs once again.

Pro Tip: The room to your left contains a chest. When you open it, it will split into two, with the left side yielding an Aenema Drought.

Upon reaching the next floor, you’ll find another series of teleporting doors. The first door leads you outside the third room, the second door takes you to the fifth room, and so forth. However, instead of exploring all the rooms, just sprint to the end of the hallway, enter the fifth room, exit through the hole, and head up the stairs.

The Haunted Tavern

Now you’ll find yourself on the ship’s deck. Make your way to the cabin door across from you and enter. Speak with the tavern keeper, then prepare for a fight against five skull demons. After that encounter, proceed up the stairs, go straight, and take a left at the end of the corridor. Avoid the lurking enemies and continue around the corners until you reach a save point. The door next to the save point leads to the Sunken Ship’s boss.

The Garon Boss Fight

Garon proves to be vulnerable to holy, fire, water, and wind magic. His primary attack, the Whirlwind Technique, can be easy to evade if you have the right tactics in place. If not, you can still counter Garon’s wind-based magical assaults effectively. Having a resilient fighter to absorb his physical attacks can also tip the scales in your favor.

Before leaving, ensure you explore the treasures in the room next to Garon and you’ll uncover the Book of Dark & Water III.

Recruiting the Diver Class

After your victory over Garon, return to Toba and speak to the Diver again. Regardless of your dialogue choices, she will join your team. The Diver serves as a dependable healer proficient in water magic. Though her strength isn’t exceptionally high, her impressive stamina compensates for it, making her a valuable addition to any party.
