While playing Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, you’ll meet a variety of characters who often turn to Henry for assistance. These characters lead Henry through multiple quests, helping him learn more about their stories and adventures.
One notable character in the Kuttenberg area is Foreman Vlach. His questline begins with Henry aiding the miners and culminates in a shooting competition. Curious about how to navigate this journey? Participate in his quests to uncover the full experience. For this guide, we’ll focus specifically on winning the shooting contest during the Popinjay Shoot quest.
Starting the Popinjay Shoot
After you finish the Striped Tonies quest, you’ll automatically unlock the Popinjay Shoot quest, which directs you to the Archery Range southeast of Kuttenberg in the morning.
When you arrive, you’ll see Vlach waiting at the entrance. Talk to him, and he’ll request Henry to fill in for Anton for some practice. Make sure to agree to this to kick off the quest officially.

Completing the Popinjay Shoot
The shooting contest requires you to use a crossbow to hit popinjay targets, with the aim of outscoring your opponents.
You’ll find a total of nine targets: six located on barrels and wooden blocks, and three hanging from sticks.

You’ll have a crossbow and nine arrows at your disposal. To secure a victory, try to hit a minimum of four or five targets.
Begin by targeting the ones on the left, as they are closer and easier to hit.
There should be four targets that are relatively simple to knock down.
Missing a shot or two is okay, but if you lose more than three arrows, consider reloading your save and giving it another go.
Regardless of the outcome, the Popinjay Shoot will conclude, but your reward will vary based on your performance.
