Engaging in boss fights in Hades 2 can be quite intense, especially when facing the Titan who dared to steal fire. Prometheus is an ambitious foe, adept at using projectiles and other effects, making him a significant challenge for those who go into battle unprepared.

Ironically, that very ambition that led to his curse becomes the key to extinguishing his flames once and for all. With some strategic planning, you’ll discover that Prometheus has more spark than heat.

How to Get Ready for Prometheus

Prepare for a challenging battle with Prometheus, similar to facing Chronos. Ensure you have every boon at your disposal and perform the following preparations:

Frinos the Frog – While Raki is also a great choice, the projectile-heavy nature of Prometheus requires Frinos’s anti-projectile abilities, which will prove invaluable.
Strength Card – Equip the 23rd Arcana Card, Strength, and remove your Death Defy card to set up for the next step.
Gorgon Amulet – Equip Athena’s keepsake to ensure her support during the final stretch of your journey. This won’t work if you choose Toula and haven’t used your Defy.
Any Deflect Ability – After triggering Athena, select a boon that allows you to deflect attacks. The sprint boon is the most consistent, but any deflection ability will be effective.
Aphrodite Boons – Utilize weakness boons, particularly the Shameless Attitude boon, along with her damage-resistance abilities, which are quite helpful.

Your objective should be to minimize damage intake while maximizing damage output. This is crucial, especially since you won’t have Death Defy to rely on. However, the Strength Card will do much of the heavy lifting in the early part of the fight.

You can also create a Dodge-focused build instead of concentrating on damage negation, but this requires more preparation compared to a Strength-focused setup.

Your Deflect ability from Athena will be crucial in rising up against the many projectiles in this fight. It will provide two main advantages:

Avoiding projectile hits.
Preventing the buildup of damaging fire zones on the ground.

However, you must consider that this will sacrifice the potential for a more powerful keepsake, such as Knuckle Bones or the Black Fleece, alongside the loss of Death Defies. Nonetheless, Athena’s Boons are potent against Prometheus, making the risk worthwhile.

Complete Prometheus Move Descriptions and Strategies

Prometheus gets ready to strike Melinoe with a Wave of Flames.

Attack	Wind-Up Descriptions	Recommended Counters
Aetos Summon	Prometheus begins by shouting “Fly, Aetos!”, calling his eagle. The eagle swoops down in a twirl and unleashes magical projectiles in a spider-like pattern.	Keep moving. Dodge sideways as it approaches. When it attacks, dodge into it to slip through.
Aetos Summon	When Prometheus invokes the eagle after his Flames of Foresight attack, expect a red circle to indicate its landing.
Flame Vortex	Prometheus charges red and blue energy, swinging upward to create a flame vortex that pulls Melinoe in.	Run behind Prometheus and strike back.
Arena Trap	Prometheus slams the ground, causing a red ring around the player. A blue circle times the attack, which explodes after a delay, leaving zoning flames that linger.	Keep sprinting near the edge of the arena. Once the circle halts, dash out to avoid the explosion.
Flaming Slice Kick	Charging energy like in the Flame Vortex, Prometheus leaps and unleashes a horizontal burst of fire.	Sprint around Prometheus with some distance, then dodge through the flame kick as it approaches. Attack briefly before backing off.
Flame Ring Slam	Prometheus jumps, slams down, and creates a zone of blue fire.	Dodge inward during the slam and attack but don’t retreat. After two attacks, decide whether to continue or dodge through the fire ring.
Wave of Flame	A red zone appears and tracks the player. Prometheus unleashes a wave of flames, establishing a damaging zone.	Attack, but wait until the last moment to dash through him to dodge the wave.
Fists of Flame	Prometheus crouches, builds energy, and fires a barrage of fiery projectiles tracking the player.	Keep your distance and move around Prometheus to strike.
Summon Reinforcements	He’ll summon satyr grenadiers to the arena edges.	Take out reinforcements on one side to reduce incoming damage.
Flames of Foresight	Prometheus leaps to the edge of the frame, revealing a pattern of red arrows on the floor ahead of time, leading to flames covering the area.	Learn the patterns to identify safe zones and stay there until the attack ends.

Prometheus’s strikes are perilous not solely due to their raw damage, but because most of them leave lasting area effects, constraining your movement and punishing mistakes.

With Athena’s Deflect boon, you can alleviate some of that situation, but constant vigilance is necessary.

How to Defeat Prometheus

Facing Prometheus, you have to be prepared for a highly aggressive boss that doesn’t tolerate players who shy away from close combat. Builds relying on distance will likely struggle.

Spells don’t restrict his movements well, and Freeze barely affects him.

Balance aggression with movement to succeed, but you’ll have only brief windows of opportunity. Relying on Athena’s Deflect will help you turn his aggressive style against him.

Prometheus indicates the target area for his Flames of Foresight.

Fortunately, Prometheus’s attacks don’t change based on his phases. Everything he does remains consistent throughout the battle, making his patterns easier to learn.

The only exception is his foresight attack, which has some important details:

The “Flames of Foresight” attack occurs when he reaches approximately 66% and 33% health.
The first instance has three patterns; the second features five.
Memorize these flame patterns to avoid them.
Getting hit by this attack typically results in an instant loss, unless you have the Coarse Grit Boon.

If following patterns is a challenge for you, try focusing on safe spots instead to navigate effectively through the attack.

During the “Flames of Foresight” animation, you cannot harm Prometheus directly. However, if you’re using a
Scorch build with the Unlimited Scorch Duo Boon (Hot Flash from Hestia and Aphrodite), he may take Scorch damage during this phase. It’s unclear if this is a bug or intended.

Expecting openings, Prometheus provides minimal chances. Maximize your attacks during the following moves:

Flame Vortex
Wave of Flame

In general, you must be alert to capitalize on brief vulnerabilities. This is particularly challenging with slower weapons, such as the Moonstone Axe, requiring tremendous patience.

Avoid trying to attack while his eagle is on the field, except potentially to set a Cast. It’s not worth the risk unless you’re fully confident.

If you’re looking for additional notes on battling Prometheus, consider these general tips:

Generally, it’s better to dodge toward Prometheus instead of away; he severely punishes players who retreat.
Don’t let his summoning of reinforcements overwhelm you, especially without Athena’s boon. Their strikes can cause unexpected damage.
Selene’s Moon Water boons will serve you well in this fight, but the Black Coat’s Aspect of Selene Hex, Shine, is also useful.
If you prefer not to focus on a Deflect strategy, a combination of Hestia, Demeter, and Aphrodite will help slow Prometheus while maximizing damage and defense.
Never let Prometheus’s delayed circle attack take over the arena’s center. You could find yourself trapped at the edge, especially if he follows up with a Wave of Flames.
Try to angle his Wave of Flames toward the edge as well, preventing dangerous situations.

Eventually, you’ll conquer the Titan of Foresight, unlocking his feather and the gates to the top of Mt. Olympus.
