Assassin’s Creed Shadows features a wealth of castles and locations packed with valuable loot and significant targets to eliminate. Miki Castle, like many others scattered throughout Japan, houses a Legendary Chest protected by a squad of Samurai Daisho. To unlock the legendary treasure inside the red chest, you’ll need to track down all four Samurai Daisho hiding in Miki Castle.
You have the option to charge through the castle with Yasuke’s brute force; however, we recommend using Naoe’s stealthy techniques to discreetly take out the Samurai Daisho at Miki Castle.
Where to Find Miki Castle
Miki Castle is located in the heart of Miki, a small but perilous town situated in Harima. The nearby Miki Kakurega is your closest fast travel point, just to the west of your objective.
Ensure that your supplies are stocked up before entering, as you may need to utilize them if things go awry.
This area is home to four Samurai Daisho, so get ready for some tactical maneuvering.
Finding & Assassinating the First Samurai Daisho
Approach Miki Castle from its southwestern corner and scale the wall to your left. This will give you a higher vantage point to observe a large part of the castle.
Make your way to the northwestern courtyard where a large, partially constructed building is – that’s where you’ll find the first Samurai Daisho.
Be aware that this Daisho is well-guarded. The best approach is to skirt to your right along the castle wall until you reach the same side as the first Samurai Daisho.
Take out the two guards stationed near the unfinished building, climb onto the roof above the Samurai Daisho, and then execute a silent air assassination.
Finding & Assassinating the Second Samurai Daisho
To reach the central area of Miki Castle, climb over the barred door and look out across the courtyard.
You’ll spot the second Samurai Daisho in this central courtyard, with guards mostly lined up on the left side.
Similar to the first Daisho, it’s easiest to isolate this one by moving along the edges to get close.
To successfully carry out a stealthy assassination:
- Get on top of the central building in the area.
- Use a Shinobi Bell to divert the guard’s attention.
- Assassinate the Samurai Daisho and make your escape.
Alternatively, you can lure the Samurai Daisho to a quieter area of the house with a Shinobi Bell and finish him off there, which is a safer option.
Finding & Assassinating the Third Samurai Daisho
The third Samurai Daisho is located in the courtyard directly south of the central courtyard where the second Daisho was encountered.
Traverse the roofs between the courtyards and quietly move towards the right side, sneaking up behind the Samurai Daisho and his guards.
This Daisho is even more heavily guarded, surrounded by four individuals.
If you prefer a more confrontational approach, you can battle the guards and the Daisho without raising alarms by sabotaging the bell near their location.
To take them down, follow these steps:
- Hide in the bushes and eliminate the guard patrolling nearby.
- Drop a smoke bomb and then take out the Samurai Daisho.
- Quickly toss another smoke bomb (unless you have the skill that extends smoke bomb duration).
- Choose to fight or flee:
- Engage the guards, aiming to eliminate them under the cover of your smoke bomb.
- Escape into the bushes as soon as possible.
Finding & Assassinating the Fourth Samurai Daisho
The fourth and final Samurai Daisho is located in the easternmost courtyard within Miki Castle.
You can reach this area by dropping down into the trenches separating the courtyards and climbing up onto the small roof leading into the next courtyard.
Your first target should be the guard directly below your entry point, positioned behind a barrier separating him from the Daisho.
The most effective way to silently assassinate the final Daisho is to jump onto the fence and execute a double assassination on him and the student he’s training; be sure to throw a smoke bomb first to ensure you get in and out cleanly.
Rewards from Miki Castle
With all four Samurai Daisho defeated, you’ll unlock the Legendary Chest. Here are the rewards you can expect from this chest, alongside other treasures hidden around Miki Castle.
Additional Loot
Miki Castle conceals a key essential for unlocking doors, along with various other chests scattered throughout the area.
- Key: As soon as you scale the southwestern wall into the castle, you’ll find the key next to a shed on your right.
Use the bushes to sneak up and eliminate the guard watching the key.
- First Door: With the key in hand, go to the right side of the shed where you found the key and take down the guard there.
Enter to find a chest containing resources, including three piles of materials to smuggle into your hideout.
- Second Door: There’s another door in the same courtyard where you eliminated the third Samurai Daisho to the south.
Inside, you’ll discover a chest holding a cosmetic item and three piles of materials to smuggle.
- More Loot:
- Across from the small shed that unlocks with the key, you can execute a double assassination on two guards sitting by a fire and open a small chest with crafting materials right in front of them.
- In the same area, you’ll find two bundles of wood in the partially built house across from the locked door.
- Within the house where you took down the first Samurai Daisho, there’s a chest containing a rare trinket.
- Inside the same building where you defeated the second Daisho, you’ll find a chest holding some armor.
- In the house across from where you eliminated the fourth Daisho, there are two chests and a ration bin. One of these chests should house a rare weapon.
Legendary Chest
The Legendary Chest is located in the central courtyard, inside the building where you assassinated the second Samurai Daisho.
Inside this chest, you’ll find:
- 3,000 experience points
- An Engraving
- The Defense Master Headwrap Legendary Helmet for Naoe
Legendary gear is always a great find, making the effort to clear Miki Castle well worth it despite the challenge of hunting down all four Daisho.
