Assassin’s Creed Shadows is all about the excitement of the hunt. The gameplay revolves around finding and stalking your targets using clues, culminating in silent takedowns. If you thrive on tracking your prey and want to earn some of the best gear in the game, locations like Himeji Castle are ideal for you.
While Yasuke is formidable with his ability to slice through enemies with ease, we’re opting for a stealthier tactic at Himeji Castle by utilizing Naoe. Our mission is to silently eliminate every Samurai Daisho in our path, allowing Naoe to navigate the castle undetected and collect her rewards.
Where Is Himeji Castle?
Himeji Castle is located in the southwestern corner of Harima, nestled between Aga and the Kanki Burned Fields.
The nearest fast-travel point, aside from the viewpoint within the castle, is either Saifukuji Temple to the south or Himeji Kakurega in the southeast.
Approach from the southwestern entrance, where you’ll find a straightforward entry point, aided by some scaffolding to the left of the bridge’s main entrance.
How To Find & Assassinate The First Samurai Daisho
Upon entering Himeji Castle’s southern section, you will encounter a bustling courtyard filled with people and a few guards.
Use the rooftops in this southern courtyard to dash north toward a large entry leading to the main northern area of Himeji Castle.
Eliminate the guard on the left side and continue climbing the scaffolding to reach the northwestern courtyard, high up on the cliff.
Head to the northern wall and leap across the wire to the next eastern area, which is another courtyard where the first Samurai Daisho awaits.
This Daisho is positioned overlooking a small group of soldiers, with another patrol guard nearby.
At this point, you can either dispatch the patrolling guard while he’s out of sight or opt for a double assassination on both targets. Regardless of your choice, it’s best to leave the group of enemies the Daisho is watching alone.
How To Find & Assassinate The Second Samurai Daisho
From here, make a direct path to the perimeter and travel along the wall to the northern edge, continuing east as you climb another wall into the next section of the northern garden.
Utilize the rooftops to navigate to the lower half of the perimeter and glance southeast, where you’ll spot another separated area containing your second Samurai Daisho, positioned across from the tallest towers.
This second Daisho is quite isolated, found alone on a red bridge. Ensure no guards are watching and swiftly approach from behind to take him out.
How To Find & Assassinate the Third Samurai Daisho
Next, head slightly southeast until you reach the eastern courtyard, which features a small pond—this is where you’ll encounter your third Samurai Daisho.
You can reach the pond courtyard from the second Daisho by moving across the roofs and using the large towers to leap into the next section.
In this area, you’ll find the third Daisho, who is also alone in his courtyard. With no one around, feel free to take your time and eliminate him.
How To Find & Assassinate the Fourth Samurai Daisho
Having taken down the third Daisho, focus on the fourth Samurai Daisho located in the nearby large tower, near where you likely discovered the viewpoint.
Drop through the trapdoor in the roof to ambush the fourth Samurai Daisho, clearing a path to a Legendary Chest for later.
How To Find & Assassinate the Fifth Samurai Daisho
With four Samurai Daisho eliminated, only one more remains. The final Daisho is hiding in the central southern section of Himeji Castle, near the center icon.
Go to the eastern part of the southeastern courtyard where the Daisho stands alone, with one guard seated and another patrolling nearby.
Begin by taking out the patrolling guard while waiting on the roof of the building in his path.
With the way clear, approach and eliminate the fifth Samurai Daisho, then deal with the last nearby guard to secure the area.
What Rewards Do You Get From Himeji Castle?
This was a challenging task that required patience and strategy, but you’ve successfully dealt with all five Samurai Daisho in Himeji Castle. Now, you can claim the side loot, keys, and Legendary chest waiting for you inside.
Side Loot
Himeji Castle offers a wealth of loot, including keys and locked doors alongside various chests scattered throughout. These chests contain crafting materials, mon, and decorative items for your Hideout.
- Key: Within the eastern section of the castle, at the courtyard where you defeated the third Samurai Daisho, you’ll find a key on a table in the corner near some wood.
- First Door: Just eastward from the courtyard where you found the key, there’s a locked door about 50 feet away, guarded by two distracted enemies.
- Second Door: Near the large tower in the northern section of the castle, you’ll encounter a black locked door guarded by two men patrolling outside and another two stationed inside a small house nearby.
Inside the first door, you’ll find a rare chest.
Inside the second door is a large resource bundle filled with materials and two smaller bundles.

- In the eastern corner of Himeji Castle, returning to the courtyard where you eliminated the third Samurai Daisho, you’ll find a red chest inside a building.
- Below the tower holding the legendary chest and the fourth Daisho, within the central area, there’s a small chest in the outdoor courtyard.
- In the southeastern courtyard adjacent to where you neutralized the fifth Daisho, a red chest awaits for you to collect.
- In the basement of the castle’s primary tower, you’ll encounter seven resource piles, one chest, and two smaller resource piles to gather.
Legendary Chest
The Legendary Chest is located in the main tower in the northeastern section of the castle. Make your way to the top floor where you will find this special chest containing:
- 3,000 experience points
- An engraving
- The Defense Master Clothing for Yasuke
If you haven’t already climbed the tower, there’s one final reward waiting for you.
Synchronization Viewpoint
While navigating from the second to third Daisho, you’ll encounter the large tower in the northeast of Himeji Castle.
Climb this structure, and at the summit, you’ll earn a Synchronization Viewpoint along with a new fast travel location.
