Brilliant Eidolon Shards are among the more challenging resources to gather in Warframe. These shards are linked to endgame bosses known as Eidolons, which patrol the Plains of Eidolon on Earth. To access them, you must progress through the storyline, particularly completing “The War Within,” but ideally, you should advance further to obtain better gear and upgrades for your Operator. If you haven’t reached this point in the story, you won’t be able to collect Brilliant Eidolon Shards.
The silver lining is that once you gain access to your Operator, collecting Brilliant Eidolon Shards becomes relatively straightforward. Equip a powerful weapon and a solid support Warframe, and you’ll take down these Eidolons quickly.
How to Obtain Brilliant Eidolon Shards
Brilliant Eidolon Shards are earned by capturing Eidolons, which are large Sentient creatures found in the Plains of Eidolon during the nighttime. Since you can’t control the time of day in open-world environments, you’ll need to wait until nightfall before you can start farming Eidolons. Keep an eye on the Plains of Eidolon node on your Star Chart for the current time of day.
The type of Eidolon you manage to capture affects the number of Brilliant Eidolon Shards you will receive:
Teralyst | 1 Brilliant Shard |
---|---|
Gantulyst | 1 Brilliant Shard |
Hydrolyst | 2 Brilliant Shards |
Capturing an Eidolon
We won’t dive too deep into actually hunting Eidolons in this guide, but here’s a brief overview outlining the four steps to capturing an Eidolon:
- Locate the Teralyst.
- Find two Eidolon Lures in the field.
- Defeat Vomvalysts while near a lure to charge it.
- A charged lure will stop the Teralyst from teleporting.
- You need two charged lures to capture the Teralyst after it is defeated.
- Approach the Teralyst and eliminate it.
Eidolons are always found near water bodies, typically at Gara Toht Lake or the nearby river. Using your Archwing can help traverse the plains quickly to find it. While searching, look for Eidolon Lures at Grineer outposts. Damage the lure, hack it, and it will follow you for the duration of the battle. Remember to charge at least one lure before engaging the fight.
Vomvalysts frequently appear near the Cetus entrance. If you need to charge your initial lure, bring it to the Cetus gates and stay alert for a pack of Vomvalysts.
With a charged lure in hand, it’s time to take on the Teralyst. Switch to your Operator and start inflicting damage using your Amp. Although you can technically defeat this boss with the basic Amp, if you find it challenging, consider bringing along friends or a Volt Warframe. His Electric Shield ability can enhance your Operator’s Amp.
After removing the Eidolon’s shields, focus on breaking its limbs. Switch back to your Warframe and target one of the Teralyst’s joints. Weapons that deal Radiation damage are particularly effective in this phase. As long as you have a charged lure, the Teralyst won’t teleport when wounded. Transition back to your Operator, use cloak to dodge its scream attack, and repeat the steps until the Teralyst is defeated. This will yield a Brilliant Eidolon Shard and a random Arcane once captured.
Utilizing Brilliant Eidolon Shards
Brilliant Eidolon Shards can be used in three primary ways:
- Trade for Focus points.
- Unbind Focus Waybound nodes.
- Sacrifice a shard to summon a more formidable Eidolon boss.
Focus serves as the main purpose for Eidolon Shards. It’s advisable to keep a Brilliant Shard for each Waybound node. These nodes represent passive perks within each Focus school, applying their effects universally across all Focus schools when fully upgraded. For instance, earning the Inner Gaze passive for Madurai will benefit every Focus school once maxed. Maxing out a Waybound node requires one Brilliant Eidolon Shard.
You can also convert any surplus Eidolon Shards into Focus points. Navigate to the Focus menu, and select “Focus Conversion” to choose any Eidolon Shards in your inventory. This process is irreversible, so be cautious about which shards you choose to exchange.
Eidolon Shard | 2,500 Focus |
Synthetic Eidolon Shard | 5,000 Focus |
Brilliant Eidolon Shard | 25,000 Focus |
Radiant Eidolon Shard | 40,000 Focus |
If you are looking for Radiant Eidolon Shards, you’ll need to battle Gantulysts and Hydrolysts. These more powerful Eidolon variants must be summoned after defeating a Teralyst while it’s still nighttime. Go to the shrine located at Gara Toht Lake and sacrifice your Brilliant Eidolon Shard. Everyone in your party must sacrifice a shard to summon the Gantulyst. After defeating that boss, you will need to sacrifice another shard to summon a Hydrolyst.
