Mastering Card Trades in Pokémon TCG Pocket

The trading feature in Pokemon TCG Pocket allows you to swap cards with friends on your list. While there are some rules to ensure fair play, trading can be quite useful for finishing your collection or grabbing a duplicate for a new deck.

At first glance, trading might feel a bit tricky because of these rules, but we’re here to clarify everything for you. Below, we’ll go over what you need to know about trading, including which cards you can exchange and how to obtain the currencies required for trading.

How to Trade

To start trading, head to the Social Hub menu and select the Trade option. Here, you’ll find your current Trade Tokens, Trade Stamina, a Trade button, and any pending trade requests. Click on the Trade button to access your friends list and choose the player you want to trade with.

Next, you’ll need to select the card you want to trade. After confirming your trade, an invitation will be sent to your friend. They can then accept the invitation and choose a card they wish to trade in return.

Once the card they offer appears, you can either accept or decline the trade. If both players agree, the trade will be completed, and you will exchange cards.

Trading Restrictions

Before beginning a trade, keep the following restrictions in mind:

  • Trading consumes Trade Stamina, which replenishes at a rate of one every 24 hours.
  • You can only trade cards of the same rarity.
  • Cards with a rarity of 3-Diamond or higher require Trade Tokens for trading.
  • Only 1-Star rarity cards can be traded.
  • Promo cards cannot be traded.

How to Obtain Trade Tokens

Trading a Celebi ex for Trade Tokens or Flair in Pokemon Pocket.

If you want to trade cards with a rarity of 3-Diamond or higher, you’ll need to use Trade Tokens. The primary way to get these tokens is by converting duplicate cards in your collection. You can also earn them through time-limited events or missions.

To convert a card, open your collection, select the card you wish to turn into Trade Tokens, and then choose the Obtain Items option. From there, select Trade Tokens to complete the conversion.

Here’s how many Trade Tokens you get based on card rarity:

Rarity

Trade Tokens Received

1-Diamond

0

2-Diamond

0

3-Diamond

25

4-Diamond

125

1-Star

100

2-Star

300

3-Star

300

Crown

1,500

Additionally, here’s how many Trade Tokens are needed to trade a card based on its rarity:

Rarity

Trade Tokens Required

1-Diamond

0

2-Diamond

0

3-Diamond

120

4-Diamond

500

1-Star

400

The process can be a bit confusing, so here’s a quick example. Suppose you want to trade a Charizard ex for a friend’s Mewtwo ex. Both of you will need to gather 500 Trade Tokens, which you can obtain by converting four other ex cards or through various combinations of other cards.

Once you both have enough Trade Tokens, you can start the trade to exchange your desired cards. This essentially means you’ll be trading five ex cards for the one ex card you want, provided your friend is on board too.

You can only convert cards from your collection if you have more than two copies of them. However, this rule doesn’t apply to trading itself; you can trade your last copy of a card if you have the Trade Tokens to back it up.
