After the dragon attack on Minrathous and your decision to help Treviso in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, the situation is dire. The Venatori have seized control of the city, driving the Shadow Dragons into hiding, and their ruthless actions are apparent everywhere.
Even though abandoning the city and its residents is not an option, the once vibrant presence of the Shadow Dragons has all but vanished following the Venatori takeover. It’s hard to believe they’ve completely given up their fight against slavery, so it’s your task to uncover their fate.
How to Find Clues About the Shadow Dragons
When you arrive in Dock Town, you’ll need to fight an Unstoppable Executioner in the Shadow Dragon’s headquarters if this is your first visit. They lack armor but possess high HP and damage, so use combo-ed Companion skills to defeat them efficiently.
After the battle, check the store within the building and read the note in the pool of blood near the stall for your first clue about the Shadow Dragons’ disappearance.
Due to recent events, you will need to rediscover all fast travel beacons except for the one located in the Shadow Dragon’s headquarters.
Next, head to the upper-east side of Dock Town and search for a note behind some wooden scaffolding in a corner past the stalls, near one of the murder victims from the In Memoriam quest. This note will provide a clue for your next move.
Where to Locate Dockside Jail
Afterwards, return to the bridge near the market, then head north through the memorial courtyard, continuing east through the buildings until you find the northern docks, clearing out any Venatori you encounter along the way.
Once you arrive, you’ll face three additional Venatori: an armored mage and two soldiers. Defeat them, then examine the body nearby.
Be prepared to encounter non-boss versions of the Unstoppable Executioner, known for their quick attacks and frequent teleportation.
Next, make your way to the southwestern docks. If you haven’t activated the fast travel beacons there, you will need to walk down from the Shadow Dragon’s headquarters beacon.
Eliminate any Venatori you encounter as you make your way toward the large room on the western side. You’ll come across two doors blocked by blood magic crystals: one leads out, and the other is the main entrance, which has three shielding crystals floating above it.
As you attempt to destroy the smaller crystals, a group of Venatori will ambush you from behind, forcing you to stop your actions to defend yourself. Once they’re defeated, finish breaking the remaining crystals, enter the jail, and investigate the bodies on the floor to complete the quest. While you won’t earn any EXP or Gold, you will gain 100 Reputation with the Shadow Dragons.
