Tears of the Kingdom: A Guide to Acquiring the Master Sword

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom brought a host of new features and mechanics, building on the triumph of its predecessor.

Despite these additions, one goal remains unchanged for players: acquiring the legendary Master Sword. This powerful weapon can significantly impact gameplay for many adventurers.

Obtaining the Master Sword in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is no small feat. Thankfully, this guide will assist players in discovering how to locate and claim this formidable weapon.

How to Acquire the Master Sword

The Master Sword is particularly valuable as it never breaks, only requiring a recharge, and it inflicts double damage against most foes you encounter in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, as noted by GamesRadar.

To begin your quest for this legendary blade, you must first possess at least two full wheels of Stamina. After that, either complete all of the Geoglyphs or consult the Deku Tree to unveil the Master Sword’s location.

Next, use your glider or aerial vehicles to reach the head of the Light Dragon, where you can expend your entire two wheels of Stamina to draw the Master Sword from its resting place.

What are the Geoglyphs?

Completing the Geoglyphs is a critical step in obtaining the Master Sword. There are a total of 11 Geoglyphs scattered across the map.

The best way to spot them is by observing from the sky islands or after launching yourself from a fast travel tower.

Locating the Master Sword

While approaching the head of the Light Dragon is the most direct method to acquire the Master Sword, players can also discover its location by venturing into Korok Forest and navigating through the Lost Woods.

To reach the Depths, you’ll need to enter the Minshi Chasm. Afterward, defeating a boss will enable you to cleanse the area of gloom, allowing the Deku Tree to disclose the Master Sword’s location, as detailed by VG247.

Once you’ve claimed the Master Sword, it will quickly become a staple in your arsenal, especially since you won’t have to worry about it breaking. After some use, a prompt will appear indicating that the sword has depleted its energy.

This prompts players to wait 10 minutes in real life before they can wield the legendary sword’s power again. Furthermore, if you check your inventory and select the Master Sword, you’ll see a timer in its description.

This timer will pause while you view this screen, meaning it only counts down while you are actively controlling Link, according to Polygon.
