The Lion’s Den is one of the most intriguing quests in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, but it might also leave you feeling a bit guilty. Henry’s mission is to sneak into the enemy camp and earn their trust, allowing Zizka and his team to launch a surprise attack.
This quest is fairly lengthy and complex, so it will take some time to wrap it up. Additionally, The Lion’s Den features two enjoyable side quests that you might easily overlook.
Talk to Zizka
After finishing the Exodus quest, your next step is to speak with Zizka. However, to proceed with the next quest, you need to complete The Devil’s Pack mission, where you’ll have to locate and recruit members of the Dry Devil’s gang.
Once you finish this mission, head over to Zizka and have a chat with him. After your conversation, wait for a whole day for Samuel to join you for a meeting. Once he’s there, talk to Zizka again, and the whole crew will gather to discuss their next steps.
If you lack the necessary points during the skill checks in your discussion, it’s wise to skip those options since they might negatively impact your reputation. After your chat, it’s time to go meet Katherine at the camp.
Tip: After you finish talking to the gang, you can approach Hans Capon to unlock a side activity called “Like Old Times.”
Talk to Katherine
Go to the coordinates marked on your map and speak with Katherine. If you visit her during the day, she’ll ask you to return in the evening, so make sure to pass some time before visiting again. Katherine will then share valuable information and request that you enlist in Sigismund’s army to learn their plans.
Your goal is to sign up with the army to identify when they will move towards Sedletz so that your crew can set up an ambush. Find Stephen Crow and speak with him; you will encounter some skill checks during your conversation, but don’t worry—failing those won’t affect your progress. Regardless, Crow will take you to Katz and instruct you to find several lost soldiers.
How to Find Lost Soldiers
First, talk to Musa, who will tell you about one of the returning soldiers. Unfortunately, this soldier is in bad shape and unable to communicate.
When prompted about waking him up or healing him, you will get an objective to assist him. Musa will instruct you to create a Strong Cockerel potion for the healing process. The Alchemy bench is located just behind Musa’s tent.
To brew this potion successfully, you’ll need one Valerian and two Mints, ensuring you complete each step correctly with fresh ingredients.
Next, head to the coordinates on your map to find the missing soldiers; they can be found at Old Lhota, just south of the D marker. Approach any soldiers you see outside and tell them that you’re looking for a document, assuring them you mean no harm.
They’ll provide you with the key to a chest. Behind you will be two doors; open the right one and climb the ladder. Just ahead, you’ll find a chest containing the Lost Charter for King Sigismund alongside 300 Groschen.
Talk to Katz
Now that you have the document, go to Katz and present it to him. He will inquire about the soldiers, at which point you can choose to lie about how you handled the situation or admit they are hiding at Old Lhota. If you lie, he won’t catch on and you’ll gain reputation points.
Katz will then challenge you to a dice game. If you’re unfamiliar with the game, you can decline twice, and he won’t ask again. If you’re confident, you could earn 600 Groschen if you win, but be aware you’ll lose 300 Groschen if you lose.
How to Investigate the Crime Scene
Afterward, a cutscene will reveal that the Cuman commander, Chertan, has been murdered. Your task will be to investigate the crime scene. Start by examining the bloodstains on the ground, and then proceed to the hut on your left.
Inspect the broken lock and the cannon, and then look over the gunpowder on the ground before exiting the hut. In front of the blood you previously examined, you’ll find a tub; investigate that along with a dagger nearby.
Next to the tub is Chertan’s tent. Inside, you’ll notice a chest. While you could try to open it for clues, it’s going to be quite difficult. Instead, grab the key located under the bed and use it to open the chest.
Inside, you’ll find Lord Borumlaca’s bond, which you should read from your inventory. After that, return to Katz and inform him that you’ve examined the area. Soon, you’ll discover that Chertan was poisoned, placing suspicion on Musa.
How to Find the Murderer
To clear Musa’s name, you’ll need to find the real killer. Speak to Musa in his tent, but be wary of a guard that might be obstructive. If you can’t win him over, simply wait until he turns around and sneak past him.
After talking with Musa, he will request your help in identifying the poison used on Chertan. Inspect Chertan’s dead body and locate The Book of Poisons in the chest near his corpse (you’ll need to lockpick this chest, which has an easy difficulty).
After successfully getting the book, read it in your inventory and return to Musa. Choose “Kiss of Death” as your answer, which will raise a bit of suspicion. You can tell him the truth about your identity, but it won’t have much impact on your quest.
Now you need to examine several tents. Start with Musa’s tent, inspecting everything. Move on to Crow’s tent, where you’ll discover he is the one brewing the Kiss of Death poison.
Next, check out Adalbert and Radovan’s tent, making sure to lockpick their chest as well. Finally, investigate the wines and herbs on the table in Grozav’s tent.
After completing these investigations, skip to morning and defend Musa during the trial. You can accuse either Grozav or Crow, and if you make the right choices, they could end up guilty. Depending on who you point the finger at, you may need to defend yourself.
Talk to Katherine
Once the trial is concluded, go to Katherine and let her know you’re ready to move out with the Praguers. She will inform Zizka to prepare an ambush. After talking to Katz, a cutscene will play.
Tip: Before engaging in conversation with Katz, check in with Katherine about what’s been troubling her. This will activate a compelling side quest called "The Stalker," deepening your bond with her.
Soon, your allies will launch their ambush on the Praguers. Despite having had a good time with Katz, it’s now time to fight. Ultimately, you will have the chance to talk to Katz and grant him an honorable death. Finally, speak to Zizka and select the option “I’ll come with you” to fast-track to the Devil’s Den, concluding this quest.
