Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is loaded with engaging side quests, particularly in the area known as Kuttenberg. Once you’ve finished the quest "Speak of the Devil," you’ll have the freedom to roam around and explore everything this region has to offer. One notable task that can be activated is called "Striped Tonies," which becomes available after you complete the "Yankers ‘n’ Flash" quest.
To get started on the "Striped Tonies" mission, go to the Black Horse Tavern and speak with Foreman Valch. Although the goals may initially appear simple, they’ll become more intricate as you progress, and there’s a hidden timer to consider. This guide will help you navigate through the quest efficiently.
How to Begin Striped Tonies
After finishing "Yankers ‘n’ Flash," it’s time to set the stage for Striped Tonies. First, visit Valch at the Black Horse Tavern after dusk. Then, fast forward time to around 8 PM and head to Hoprink Church.
Important Note: This quest is time-sensitive, so try to accomplish each task promptly. If you take too long and let the clock strike midnight, the quest will automatically fail. By 8 PM, you should see some miners at the location, so make sure to speak with them once they arrive.
Accompanying the Miners
You’ll need to follow the miners as they walk to the church. When they stop, engage with Anton, one of the miners, who will share a suggestion. Choose the response, "I’d like to get my revenge on Preng," to continue the quest.
Anton will then ask you to hang up underwear on the Saints’ tavern, specifically under a window. Use your map to find the location, enter the tavern, go upstairs, and open the door on your right. Move cautiously to remain undetected. After entering, you’ll need to pick a lock on the right door—a relatively straightforward task. Once inside, climb the ladder on your right.
Caution: Be careful, as the innkeeper will be asleep in the room, and you don’t want to wake him by breaking the lockpick.
Once you’re at the top, you’ll see a window right in front of you. Interact with it to hang the underwear, which will also unlock the "Under a Brown Flag" trophy. Afterward, return to Franzi and Anton, who will suggest you all go for a drink. Agreeing will help improve your reputation, although they’ll likely go regardless of your answer.
As you follow them, an altercation with the Saints will break out, resulting in a fistfight. Focus on defeating Preng first, as he is the strongest of the opponents, but taking him down shouldn’t be overly difficult.
Picking Up the Gift for Tess
After the fight, chat with Anton back at the tavern. He will ask you to pick out gifts for his partner, Tess. You can’t refuse, so follow your map to find the flowers you need.
You can access the flower area by either lockpicking a tough lock to the south or climbing a wall to the north, which is the easier option. If you choose to pick the lock, be sure you have a high enough thieving skill. If not, use the barrels to climb over the wall. Just be cautious, as there is a dog and a gardener in the vicinity. The flowers are located in the garden’s center—grab the bouquet and then climb back over the wall.
Next, head to the cobbler’s shop and speak with Else to obtain the perfume. You’ll need to pass an Alchemy skill test to get it, but if you’re short on skill points, you can choose a different option. Two further skill tests will follow, both set to a hard difficulty. Opt for any skill in which you have a higher score to secure the perfume.
Keep in mind that failing the tests won’t stop you from completing the quest. Once you’ve gathered both gifts for Anton, return to him. If you bring both items, he’ll reward you with 175 Groschen and ask for your help again to keep the quest moving.
Carrying Anton to the Last Church
Next, you’ll need to carry Anton to the last church. Stick close to Franzi during this time, and once you arrive, agree to take Anton’s oath for him. You’ll need to select the right options quickly as they will be time-limited.
The correct selections are as follows:
- "We swear before God, that we will open the shafts without malice and mine the vein honestly according to the law of God."
- "We vow to work hard, listen to the foreman, and duly hand over the ore."
- "We swear to not mine silver on the feast day and give a few groschen to the church."
Choosing multiple incorrect answers will upset the priest, so choose wisely!
