In Path of Exile 2, there are numerous side quests that enhance your gameplay. Completing these quests can yield various rewards, including equipment, Passive Points, and valuable permanent enhancements like increased Maximum Life, Elemental Resistances, and Mana Regeneration. Typically, these quests involve defeating bosses, clearing areas, or performing simple tasks like fetching items for NPCs.
One specific quest can be found in Mawdun Quarry during Act 2, which tasks you with finding Tinker’s Tools. This location is quite expansive and lacks a clear objective marker, making it somewhat frustrating to locate the tools. Here’s everything you need to know to track down Tinker’s Tools.
When you arrive at Mawdun Quarry, progress through the area until you find a wooden bridge with some mining activity happening below. As you cross the bridge, you’ll notice the Book of Jamanra on a table. Continue straight ahead until you reach a checkpoint with a chest located near some tents.
Open this chest to gather Tinker’s Tools. Keep in mind that Mawdun Quarry has an area level of 17, so it’s advisable to level up a bit before tackling this quest.
Be aware that the layout of the area is randomly generated, but the location of the item will always remain constant.
Grinding Gear Games has acknowledged that the Tinker’s Tools is currently experiencing a bug in Early Access. Regardless of how many times you open the chest, you won’t receive the item. However, you can still complete the quest.
To finish the quest and mark it as completed on the map, you will need to create new game instances, rush to the chest, and open it repeatedly until you receive a white item. If you obtain a rare item or coin, the quest will not be considered complete.
To create a new instance, go to the Waypoint, hold Ctrl + left-click on the zone, and select New.
Once you’ve collected the white item, the quest icon on the Mawdun Quarry map will be grayed out, confirming its completion. While you won’t receive the intended rewards, it won’t negatively affect your endgame experience. Additionally, if you are playing with a group, only the first player to pick up the item will complete the quest, so it’s advisable to create separate instances for each player.
