Mastering Gran Turismo 7: A Comprehensive Guide

Gran Turismo 7

Gran Turismo 7 marks the newest installment in the beloved racing franchise, developed by Polyphony Digital and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment.

Fans have cherished this series for over twenty years, and Gran Turismo 7 commemorates its 25th anniversary. With a plethora of new features and additions, it might feel overwhelming for those new to the game.

This guide aims to steer players in the right direction from the start, helping them hone their racing skills and outperform their rivals.

Prioritize Obtaining Your Licenses

In the early stages of Gran Turismo 7, players will find that much of the game is initially locked. However, you can quickly make your way to the license center. This acts as a comprehensive tutorial, offering a set of challenging mini-races, per DigitalTrends.

In total, players can acquire five licenses in Gran Turismo 7: National B, National A, International B, International A, and Super. The first two licenses serve as your introduction to the game’s various scenarios.

The next two levels build on those lessons, placing players in faster cars with the goal of achieving quicker lap times while presenting different track situations. The final license thrusts players behind the wheels of the game’s most powerful vehicles, including the Lamborghini Aventador and Formula 1 cars.

Master Your Lines

The objective of the license center is to familiarize players with the game’s intricate mechanics. One essential aspect is understanding race lines, represented by a segmented yellow line that outlines the track.

This line is designed to guide you in maintaining your vehicle’s trajectory as straight as possible; less steering means better control. For instance, when approaching a corner, the line indicates that positioning yourself toward the far side of the track gives you more room to navigate the turn.

Turn Off Auto-Braking

As you begin your journey in Gran Turismo 7, the game provides various assist options, including auto-braking, which is enabled by default. You can easily turn this feature off before you kick off your first race, as noted by PocketLint.

It’s advisable to deactivate this feature right away, as manually controlling your braking will ultimately yield faster lap times. The game will further elaborate on this concept as you progress.

Resist the Urge to Buy Cars Early

While it may be tempting to splurge on new cars once you gather enough credits, this strategy might not be the best course of action. Credits can be scarce, and certain vehicles, like the Gr.3 and Vision GT, may run you over 1 million credits, according to Red Bull.

Before making any purchases, check your garage for any compatible cars that you might already own for upcoming events. When completing menus, be sure to have a suitable car at your disposal before buying a new one.
