In Oblivion Remastered, your actions can lead to being disciplined by the factions you’re part of, especially the Fighters Guild. Sometimes, this can happen unintentionally, resulting in your expulsion from the guild. While this might sound severe, you can actually be reinstated by taking the right steps. However, there’s a cap on the number of times you can be expelled and readmitted, so it’s wise to avoid being kicked out whenever possible.
Joining the Fighters Guild comes with many advantages, including exclusive quests, training opportunities, and a steady income as you climb the ranks. Losing these benefits due to expulsion can be a setback, so it’s crucial to know how to regain your membership if the situation arises. The process is relatively simple but can be tedious as you’ll need to gather specific materials.
What Can Lead to Expulsion from the Fighters Guild?
Breaking Guild Rules Can Get You Expelled
Upon joining the Fighters Guild, you’ll be briefed on the expected code of conduct. This includes not stealing from fellow members, not attacking them, and definitely not killing them. If you violate any of these rules, you’ll receive a quest indicating that you’ve been expelled from the guild.
It’s essential to remember that these rules apply to guild-owned horses as well. If you’re mounted, try to dismount at a safe distance before engaging in combat to avoid hitting a guildmate unintentionally. Once you’ve been expelled, as long as you haven’t reached your maximum number of expulsions, you can appeal to the appropriate guild leader for reinstatement.
How to Rejoin the Fighters Guild After Expulsion
Talk to Vilena Donton for Reinstatement Tasks
After your expulsion, head to the Fighters Guild hall in Chorrol and speak with Vilena Donton about your actions. If you express your wish to return, she will assign you a task as punishment. For your first expulsion, you’ll need to collect 20 Bear Pelts. If it happens a second time, you’ll have to find 20 Minotaur Horns instead. These quests can be a bit labor-intensive since you’ll have to track down a significant number of creatures.
Initially, finding Bear Pelts might seem challenging, as bears appear randomly. However, merchants in the game often have enough pelts for you to purchase. Additionally, some merchants will restock their supplies immediately after you buy, making it easier to gather what you need.

As for Minotaur Horns, obtaining them can be more difficult unless you’re the Grand Champion in the Arena. If you hold that title, you can challenge Minotaurs once you reach level 12 or higher. Tackle as many as possible in a single go and collect their horns after defeating them. Remember, there’s a cooldown of one in-game week between fights, but you can easily rest at the arena to speed up the process.
Keep in mind that you must be at least level 12 for Minotaurs to appear, so try to limit your expulsions prior to that level. If you’re just short of one horn, you can also find one at The Main Ingredient in the Imperial City Market District.
How Many Times Can You Be Expelled?
You Can Be Expelled Twice from the Fighters Guild
You can only be expelled from the Fighters Guild on two occasions; after that, you’ll be permanently removed from the organization. If this occurs, you’ll need to revert to an earlier save before your third infraction. The only exception is if you’ve risen to the rank of Guildmaster, at which point you’ll be free from expulsion.
Even if you’re not a melee fighter taking advantage of the Fighters Guild’s trainers or services, it’s still wise to avoid getting on their bad side permanently. The guild provides various enjoyable quests, including the early contract A Rat Problem, which is a personal favorite of mine. Oblivion Remastered has a wealth of content, so it’s best not to lock yourself out of any part of it by being expelled from a guild.
