In the “Assassin’s Creed: Shadows” quest titled “Belly of the Beast,” your mission involves sneaking into a property located west of the Nanban Temple in Kyoto to secure some important delivery documents. These documents are vital for your task, but locating them is the real struggle since the estate isn’t marked on the map. Given that Kyoto is quite a large city, I’ve outlined everything you need to know to help you find the documents and successfully finish the “Belly of the Beast” quest.
Location of the Papers in “Assassin’s Creed: Shadows” – Belly of the Beast
The documents you seek are stored in the main building of an estate situated between Nijo Castle and Honnoji Temple in the heart of Kyoto, right on the west side of the Nanban Temple.
This estate has numerous samurai and servants, so it’s best to stay stealthy to avoid unnecessary confrontations. Luckily, there’s a straightforward method to retrieve these papers:
- Scale the east wall of the estate. Jump onto the roof of the small storage shed next to the soldiers’ training area.
- Leap from there onto the roof of the large main building directly in front of you, and search for the roof trapdoor on the opposite side.
- Descend through the roof trapdoor and drop down through the opening in the floor to reach the ground.
- Open the sliding shoji doors to find a small desk where the documents are located. Be aware that a samurai patrols the area, so you may need to deal with him quietly or avoid him while you collect the papers.
- Retrace your steps and exit the estate once you have the documents.
With the papers in your possession, head back to Ise Sadaoki at the bridge in south Kyoto where you first met him. This will conclude the “Belly of the Beast” quest and set you on the path to the “Temple of the Horseman” quest, which is nearly the final mission of Act 1 and introduces you to a new character, Yasuke.
It’s unlikely that you’ll trigger any alarms during this quest, but it’s always useful to know how to get rid of your Wanted status in “Assassin’s Creed: Shadows.” Additionally, if you have completed the “Yaya” quest and established a Dojo, you can call on her assistance if things turn dangerous.
