Lost Letters in Far Cry 4 unveils the poignant tale of Lieutenant Robert Barclay and his beloved Charlotte during the early 19th century. By gathering every letter, you unlock rewards, achieve milestones, and contribute toward a 100% completion of the story.

In total, there are 20 letters that depict the heartfelt exchange between the two romantics. Collecting them all may take some time, so exercise patience.

Lost Letter #1 – Charlotte, June 1819

Lost Letter #1

Location: Close to the Hariyo Ghupa region, you’ll find a lost letter situated above the cliffs on the western part of the Far Cry 4 map.

Lost Letter #2 – Robert, June 1819

Location: Find the entrance to Smuggler’s Portage, proceed inside, and continue until you reach the center of the area. Look around for a skeleton clutching a bag with the letter you seek.

Lost Letter #3 – Charlotte, July 1819

Location: In the southwestern corner of the map, discover Kyra’s Slumber. Venture behind this area to enter a cave that conceals the lost letter.

Lost Letter #4 – Robert, Aug. 1819

Location: On the eastern section of the map, locate Yashini’s Ecstasy. From this spot, traverse to the stream within the well. You’ll find a shrine on your left; the lost letter rests near a demon statue found there.

Lost Letter #5 – Charlotte, Aug. 1819

Location: Head to Yalung’s Mind and locate the northwest cave. Proceed to the rear of the cave to discover the deceased individual with a bag.

Lost Letter #6 – Robert, Sept. 1819

Location: From Yalung’s Rot, navigate northeast to the cave featuring a lit green tunnel. Look for a ledge that leads into the tunnel. Once you’re inside, the lost letter awaits.

Lost Letter #7 – Charlotte, Oct. 1819

Location: At the southwestern edge of the map lies Yalung’s Jaw. The lost letter can be found on the northwest side against the right wall.

Lost Letter #8 – Robert, Nov. 1819

Location: At the southern end of the map, you will encounter Mansa Market. Move southeast to locate a dwelling which leads to a cave hiding a lost letter inside.

Lost Letter #9 – Charlotte, Nov. 1819

Location: From Kalinag’s Descent, head north next to the cave by the lake to find your first lost letter. This item is positioned right beneath the face of the broken statue.

Lost Letter #10 – Robert, Dec. 1819

At the western edge of the map, find a lost letter by crossing the stream from Yakshini’s Flesh. Alternatively, you can approach from the Jhankri Ashram; head southeast from there to find the letter’s location near the stream.

Lost Letter #11 – Charlotte, Jan. 1820

Location: Travel northeast from Yalung’s Seed to the specified marked location. You will uncover the lost letter in the bag of a dressed skeleton located deep within the cave.

Location: You’ll find the lost letter situated on a small island near Rato Lagoon.

Lost Letter #13 – Charlotte, Feb. 1820

Location: At Banashur’s Refuge, make your way northwest to reach the back end. Locate a shrine and the letter will be at the shrine’s front.

Lost Letter #14 – Robert, March 1820

Location: In the northernmost part of the map, lies Keo Logistics. Proceed to the northeast side to find a house. Inside, search beneath the stairs for the lost letter.

Lost Letter #15 – Charlotte, March 1820

Location: This letter is found inside the Sealed KEO Mine. Enter the mine and travel to the back end to retrieve your letter.

Lost Letter #16 – Robert, April 1820

Location: Located to the northwest of the Keo Rija Mine, find a stream and travel southeast towards the Ghumantu Sherpa Camp to locate the lost letter in a skeleton’s bag placed close to the water.

Lost Letter #17 – Charlotte, May 1820

Location: Travel to Svargiya Takataki Camp and grapple onto the ledge to your right. Proceed towards a small tower crowned with a flag. When you reach the tower, search around it to uncover the lost letter.

Lost Letter #18 – Robert, June 1820

Location: Head to Kyra Ki Sansa and make your way to the bridge. From there, locate the hills northeast of the bridge to find a deceased man’s skeleton dressed up, complete with a bag containing your letter.

Lost Letter #19 – Charlotte, June 1820

Location: In the topmost area of the map, there’s Yalung’s Belly. Follow the northeastern direction to locate a cave where the letter is placed within the central area at the rear end of the cave.

Lost Letter #20 – Robert, July 1820

Location: Positioned in the northeastern area of the map is Lieutenant’s Rest, nestled high within the mountains. Ascend the mountains and head to the northeast of the cliff to find a cave. Once inside, use the grapple to reach the top, where you will spot the lost letter at the top of the shaft.

Far Cry 4 Lost Letters Rewards

Collecting 4 lost letters grants you a Karma Bonus. After acquiring 8 letters, you will receive an XP Bonus, and gathering 10 letters rewards you with the Caretaker of Memory Trophy.

Gathering 12 letters nets you another Karma Bonus, and obtaining all 20 gives you an XP Bonus.

Far Cry 4 Lost Letters Issues

A number of players have reported difficulties locating a lost letter (Robert, June 1819) due to it not appearing on the map. This letter is positioned near the river and can be easily overlooked.

To find the precise location of the letter, head to the western area of the map. From Smuggler’s Portage, keep moving east until you encounter a dead man’s skeleton, which is where the elusive letter awaits.
