In Planet Coaster 2, while rollercoasters grab the spotlight, you also need functional rides that help guests navigate the park. This is where Transport Rides come into play, allowing visitors to travel between different areas and providing additional stops for easier access.
Transport Rides give guests a chance to rest and recharge, making them more likely to explore your shops and attractions afterward. Even if certain parts of your park lack activities, adding Transport Rides can enhance the overall experience.
All Transport Rides
In career mode, you’ll need to unlock Transport Rides through the Research Tree. In total, there are five types of Transport Rides available in Planet Coaster 2:
- Cable Car
- Monorail
- Single-Decker Bus
- Steam Boat
- Steam Train Railroad
If you’re eager to experiment with these rides, they are all accessible in Sandbox mode.
After selecting the best ride for your park, you’re ready to start building.
How To Build Transport Rides
- Open the build menu and choose Tracked Rides.
- Since there are no preset Transport Rides, click on the Create Custom button to design your own.
- Select your desired ride and place your starting station.
- Extend tracks from the station to your desired stopping points—remember, you can add multiple stops, but you need at least two.
- Ensure each station has an entrance and exit that connect to your paths.
- Assign a Ride Attendant and connect to a power source if needed.
- Open the ride to the public.
As long as there are interesting sights at each station, your guests will begin using the transport rides. Offering free rides typically attracts the most visitors.
How To Choose The Most Suitable Transport Ride
Choosing the right Transport Ride for your park involves considering various factors, as each type comes with its advantages and disadvantages. Below is a breakdown:
Transport Ride | Strengths and Weaknesses |
Cable Car | The Cable Car effectively manages steep terrains and allows for ground space optimization. It provides a continuous flow of pods, ensuring groups are transported at regular intervals. |
Monorail | While the Monorail is the priciest option, it offers the fastest transportation across your park, making it ideal for larger areas. |
Single-Decker Bus | This option is space-intensive but can carry many passengers, making it ideal for bustling parks. It’s also the most affordable choice. |
Steam Boat | Perfect for water-themed parks, the Steam Boat creates its water channel. It’s visually appealing but has limitations in capacity and terrain maneuverability. |
Steam Train Railroad | The Steam Train is a versatile option that is fast and accommodates a fair number of passengers but comes at a higher cost while lacking aesthetic charm. |
