In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, to create potions and poisons, you’ll need various herbs and plants. However, when it comes to forging swords at the Smithy, you’ll also require specific types of metal. Scrap metal is one of the most common materials you’ll be looking for, but finding it can be a challenge.
Since metal doesn’t naturally occur like plants do, you’ll need to be strategic about where to locate your scrap metal. Fortunately, you can easily purchase it from the right vendors for a small fee.
Instead of scavenging for scrap metal, it’s generally more practical to buy it. Two reliable sources for purchasing this metal are located in different regions of the game. You can buy scrap metal from Blacksmith Radovan in Tachov or the blacksmith in the center of Kuttenberg City. If you’ve played through the starting sequences, you might already be familiar with the Blacksmith in Tachov, as he assists you early on.
Scrap metal is reasonably priced at about 2.1 Groschen, but you can haggle to lower the price, especially if you’re looking to make a bulk purchase. Just remember that metal can be heavy, so it will consume a lot of your carrying capacity.
If you find yourself short on Groschen, looting for scrap metal is an alternative, though not the most efficient one. You won’t find it growing outside, but you can often locate it near merchants who use it.
For the best chance of finding some, wait until night and sneak around the armorer or blacksmith’s workshop. You might come across some scrap metal in their storage chests, but success isn’t guaranteed. A good Thievery skill can help, but honestly, given the low cost of scrap metal, purchasing it is the wiser option.
Also, remember that unlike food and herbs, metals do not spoil. You can keep them in your inventory indefinitely and use them whenever you need.
