Reka is a charming witch-themed game that allows players to roam the countryside in their whimsical house on chicken legs. The game has received updates, and with the arrival of Halloween 2024, the exciting Witching Hour update has introduced a new character known as the Bludnik.
What Is a Bludnik and How to Find It?
You might be asking, what exactly is a Bludnik, and how do you engage with it? This guide will help you understand the interaction and how to access the new content in Reka. There’s no need to start a brand-new game to encounter a Bludnik; you can load an existing save file!
Note: Currently, Reka is in Early Access on Steam, meaning content may change as the game evolves.
Where Can You Find Bludniks?
Bludniks only come out at night in the swampy areas of the map. If you’re beginning a new game, you’ll find them after completing the tutorial. For players returning to an old save, you’ll need to explore a new map, as Bludniks will not appear in older maps loaded before the update.
If it’s daytime, you can sleep in your bed to wake up at night. If you don’t have a place to sleep, simply wander around until nightfall.
After reaching a new map, keep an eye out for Bludniks. Focus on watery locations and look for three twisted trees; this spot is also marked on your map, so you won’t miss it.
How to Interact with a Bludnik
Once you arrive at the area with the twisted trees, keep scanning for a glowing white creature—the Bludnik. As you get closer, it will start making its way back to those trees, so follow it!
Once the Bludnik reaches the twisted trees, it will sink into the ground, transforming the area around it into a shrine. At this point, lights will illuminate the shrine, revealing an offering plate.
What Should You Offer the Bludnik?
Next, it’s time to place an offering on the Bludnik shrine. Interacting with it will bring up a list of cooked food items for you to choose from. Based on our experience, the Bludnik seems to favor the following items:
- Bread
- Garlic Bread
- Pancakes
- Pumpkin Pie
- Porridge with Fruit and Honey
When you place one of these dishes on the offering plate, a chest will appear! You can also place multiple servings of the same dish, like several loaves of bread. Don’t hesitate to experiment with other cooked foods, as there are various options available in the game.
However, some dishes will result in the Bludnik reacting negatively, indicated by red lights around the offering plate. Foods containing mushrooms tend to upset them, as well as Raspberry Jam.
Note: It’s unclear if you can swap out an offering after placing it. After testing, it appeared that we had to move on to a different map after receiving a poor reaction from the Bludnik.
What Rewards Can You Earn from Bludniks?
After making an acceptable offering, chests will spawn around the shrine! At least one chest is guaranteed, but you may see more popping up nearby. The rewards can include new clothing and a candlemaking station, which allows you to craft custom candles.
If you don’t receive a unique clothing item or a candlemaking station right away, don’t lose hope! The results are random; you might need to visit different maps and make several offerings. Additionally, try offering multiple food items at once, as this can lead to an increase in the number of chests that appear.
