Destiny 2: Revenant Tonics – Crafting, Farming, and Top Potions Guide

Quick Links

Destiny 2 always offers a fresh experience each season, and this time around, the Revenant introduces a unique potion crafting feature that enhances the thrill of collecting loot. This season, players not only have the chance to focus on seasonal weapons and armor for better rewards but can also utilize potions and tonics to boost their abilities in various ways. To get started with potion crafting, make sure to complete the introductory mission that appears right after you select your character.

Types of Tonics

There are two main types of tonics you can create: Enriching Tonics and Volatile Tonics. As outlined in the Revenant roadmap stream from early October, these tonics have different effects based on the recipe you choose. Volatile Tonics enhance your combat effectiveness, while Enriching Tonics maximize your rewards. Fortunately, crafting these tonics is quite straightforward.

How to Craft Potions

Assist Eido for Guidance

In Eido’s lab, you’ll receive a detailed tutorial on crafting tonics, so just follow the instructions after selecting a recipe. If you forget any steps, don’t worry—the quest UI will pop up every time you select a Tonic recipe, showing you the brewing process again. The more challenging part is discovering new recipes.

When crafting tonics, you’ll find that the only method to learn new ones is by making related tonics multiple times. This typically means you need to craft a Tonic several times to unlock a stronger version. For example, I was able to unlock the Potent Tonic of Stasis Crystallization after crafting the Diluted version a total of four times. The number of times needed likely increases for higher-tier tonics.

How to Farm Materials for Potions

Efficient Farming Techniques

Gathering materials for your tonics is much simpler than the tedious process of collecting cookies during the Dawning. To earn reagents for crafting, all you need to do is defeat enemies across various activities, such as story missions or patrols. You’ll accumulate reagents no matter how you choose to play.

If you’re looking for a more efficient way to gather materials, participate in the seasonal activity called Onslaught: Salvation. This updated version of Onslaught rewards additional reagents for every ten waves you complete. It’s also an excellent opportunity to grind for loot that you can enhance with your Enriching Tonics.

If you want to maximize your reagent collection, complete Eido’s first Major Fieldwork task, which grants reagents whenever you gather Reclaimed Vitality. You can then jump into the highlighted campaign mission, "Into The Deep." During this mission, collect the Cryptogryph, then jump off the edge to wipe and restart, allowing you to farm effectively.

Upon respawning, focus on eliminating the Acolyte Hive and take advantage of the limitless Thrall that spawn afterward. You might find this method can yield over 50 Reclaimed Vitality per minute, enabling you to craft as many tonics as you need.

Best High-Tier Potions

Tailored to Your Goals

This season in Destiny 2, there are 26 different Legendary Tonics available, with effects varying based on whether they are Enriching or Volatile. Volatile Legendary Tonics offer enhanced versions of their original perks and boost a different artifact perk, making them valuable in gameplay. Enriching Legendary Tonics allow for precise targeting of specific armor pieces or weapons, akin to the previous seasonal focus on Lord Shaxx.

Both tonic types last longer and offer greater benefits the rarer they become, with refined tonics providing boosts to multiple Artifact Mods.

For instance, if your build focuses on generating Stasis Crystals, activating a Refined Tonic of Stasis Crystallization will give you that extra edge when you need it.

Additionally, Exotic Tonics can drop randomly and do not have specific recipes. Currently, there’s no guaranteed way to obtain them, but they provide the chance to earn valuable materials like Ascendant Alloy, Ascendant Shard, or Exotic Cipher.

How to Get New Reagents

Complete Tasks for Eido

Initially, you’ll only have access to Common and Rare Reagents, but to unlock even more valuable materials, you need to accomplish Fieldwork tasks for Eido. Major Fieldwork can be picked up only after completing a specified number of Minor Fieldwork tasks, which become available as you brew potions. This means you’ll have to keep crafting to unlock new tasks.

Starting with the Blood Drive task is beneficial since it awards reagents each time you gather Reclaimed Vitality. To access higher-rarity Reagents, focus on the Bounty Harvester task, which provides a chance to earn better reagents upon turning in completed daily bounties. This task is essential for unlocking those rarer materials quickly, so prioritize completing as many Minor Fieldwork tasks as possible.
