Leo has acquired the Warp Device, which enables him and his team to travel instantly to any location they’ve previously visited in Fantasian: Neo Dimension. Excited to return to En’s inn for a delicious omelet, they arrive only to discover that Owen is missing.
Upon reading Owen’s note, the group learns he went off to search for something at Ancient Hill, leading them to their next destination. Below is a complete guide for navigating Ancient Hill, including strategies for defeating the Golem boss at the end, and tips for handling Funi enemies along the way.
Ancient Hill Guide
Start your journey to Ancient Hill by taking the newly-opened passage from En’s Harbor. Open the world map, follow the path, and you’ll eventually reach Ancient Hill.
The main type of enemy you’ll face here are Goblins. These creatures can boost their attack power while lowering their defense, making them easy to defeat, but they can inflict significant damage on your party. It’s wise to stock up on potions and utilize healing spells often as you make your way through this area.
As you enter Ancient Hill, be sure to use the save crystal, then move ahead to encounter Tan, the enigmatic spirit summoner from the Harbor. After a discussion, bandits will ambush you; make use of Tan’s abilities to fend them off. After several battles with different teammates, Tan will depart, leaving you free to explore the rest of the Ancient Hill.
Take the left path, then the right to find a chest containing a Heal Stone. Next, head back to the left route for another chest that holds a Small Agate. After returning to the save crystal, proceed onward.
Follow the path across the bridges until you arrive at the Nail Rock Region. Stay on the path, avoiding the unreachable chest on the small hill, until you reach the River area. Use the save crystal here and prepare your party for an upcoming boss battle before moving forward.
Encountering Funi
Ancient Hill is where you’ll first meet Funi, a peculiar enemy that will request various items to combine for something new.
Funi will ask you for a different item with each turn. Once you’ve provided enough, it will challenge you to give it a good smack. To achieve this, you’ll need to hit it with your strongest attack. You can increase your damage by first lowering its defense with Leo’s Helm Bash.
If you succeed, you’ll have the option to take the item the Funi creates or attempt to craft a more powerful one, repeating the process. However, crafting a stronger item may require a more powerful attack than you can achieve at this point in the game.
If you fail to provide the correct items or don’t inflict enough damage, the Funi will turn hostile. It can deal heavy damage with each hit and possesses considerable health, so it’s best to retreat if things escalate.
Golem Boss Fight Strategy
The Golem has no weaknesses but receives reduced damage from earth attacks. Most status effects won’t work on it either. The Golem has targetable Right and Left Arms, and hitting these will also impact its total health. Here are the key attacks to watch out for:
- Earth: Deals earth damage to one character.
- Pummel: Strikes one character for significant damage with each arm.
- Earthquake: Inflicts high earth damage to the entire party.
- Silvery Ray: Charges for a turn and then hits the whole party hard.
When the battle begins, have Leo use Helm Bash on one of the Golem’s Arms, and then focus your attacks on that Arm until it’s destroyed. Repeat this for the second Arm. This is crucial because if the Golem uses Pummel, it will deal around a thousand damage to any character, which can lead to defeat unless your characters have over 2,000 health.
Once you take out one Arm, the Pummel attack will still deal damage, but it will become less devastating since it becomes a simpler punch.
Additionally, the Golem will sometimes use Earth and Earthquake, affecting one or all party members with earth damage. If you have an Amber jewel, consider equipping it to Kina or Cheryl to help lessen damage taken from these attacks.
Towards the end of the fight, the Golem will charge up for a turn, then unleash Silvery Ray, which can wipe out your party if you’re not prepared. Use this charge time to ensure everyone’s health is nearly full to prevent an instant loss.
After defeating both Arms, the Golem becomes significantly easier. Utilize Leo’s Samidare and Cheryl’s Ice Strike to consistently damage it until it’s defeated.
Upon defeating the Golem, your party will gain 888 experience points and around 3,000 gold. With the Golem out of the way, your group will assist Owen back to his home in En before continuing their adventure, with their next destination being the fortune teller in Vence.
