The Black Banquet event for Dead by Daylight begins today at 8 a.m. Pacific Time, 11 a.m. Eastern, 4 p.m. British Summer Time, and 5 p.m. Central European Summer Time. It will run until July 16.

This new event replaces the older Twisted Masquerade as the annual celebration of the game’s anniversary. While the fancy decorations and grandeur you remember are still part of the new setting, the gameplay mechanics are completely different. Instead of just waiting for events to trigger, survivors will now gather ingredients for grotesque, corpse-based meals, which activate various effects as the feast comes together. Meanwhile, killers will attempt to sabotage the meal with poisons, using bottles that can be thrown at survivors to turn the tide.

The event features plenty of new rewards, including costumes and cosmetics inspired by the luxurious banquet atmosphere, but with a horror twist. Items will be available for several characters like The Legion, The Doctor, Kate, Claudette, The Trapper, and The Oni. These outfits can only be bought, but free rewards like weapon skins, masks, and badges can be earned by completing event tasks.

Regarding game mechanics, the event is centered on two meal courses: Main Course and Dessert. Main Course influences most of the match until four generators are completed or only one survivor is left. After that, Dessert effects kick in. The effects are categorized into three types: ones that affect the whole game, those triggered when survivors interact with food, and powerful effects when enough food is placed on Banquet Tables. The effects are based on one of three “Menus of the Day,” which determine which part of the game is impacted. For more details, check the official patch notes or wait for the event to start.

The event also introduces new outfits and cosmetics with a spooky, opulent theme, available for purchase. While these are paid items, players can still unlock free rewards such as character masks and banners through special quests.

Stay tuned for more updates, including codes and future plans, as the Black Banquet concludes and new content is announced.
