How to Solve the Music Box Puzzle in Silent Hill 2 Remake

To solve the music box puzzle, follow these steps:

1. Unlock the music box using the Ornamental Key, located in the Check reception area.
2. Find the three Princess Figurines hidden throughout the hotel: Snow White, Cinderella, and the Little Mermaid. This may take some time.
3. Insert the figurines into the Music Box.
4. Adjust the pathway sections so that each princess has a direct track to one of the integrated doors.
5. Wind up the three keys below the figurines to different degrees, controlling their speeds along the track.
6. When all three princesses enter the doors simultaneously, you will have completed the puzzle.

How to Find the Ornamental Key and Open the Music Box

You can find the Ornamental Key that unlocks the music box in the “Check” reception area, just southeast of the music box. It can be found underneath the counter, along with the key to room 312. Take it over to the music box and you’ll be able to open it up.

All Princess Figurine Locations

You’ll need to track down three princess figurines within the hotel, each hidden behind its own puzzle and challenges. Below are the locations and essential steps you need to take to find them. We suggest doing this in the order listed:

• Snow White Figurine (2F, Room 201)
  • The Snow White figurine appears in Room 201 once you resolve the mirror puzzle in Room 202. You’ll need to assemble the mirror pieces (including a loose piece in the bedroom) and place either a Ripe Apple from the 2F hall or a rotten apple from the garden in front of it. This will cause the Snow White figurine to materialize on the opposite wall in Room 201.
• Cinderella Figurine (3F, Conference Room)
  • You’ll find the Cinderella figurine located in the fireplace of the conference room on the third floor, which will be locked at first. You’ll unlock this fireplace during the process of solving the Silent Hill 2 Remake suitcase and vanity mirror puzzle. The key to the fireplace is found in the Gazebo in the Eastern section of the hotel garden, which you can access through room 107; the key to that room will be in the conference room itself. Not to mention, you’ll also need to solve the book puzzle related to the suitcase if you haven’t done so yet!
• Little Mermaid Figurine (Basement, Venus Tears Bar)
  • To access the basement of the hotel, use the employee elevator on the 2F (the key for this can be obtained by unlocking the suitcase). Before going down, you’ll have to store your weapons and gear in the cabinet next to the elevator. Once down, navigate stealthily around enemies and work through the gem box puzzle to proceed. Then, use a valve to reach the Venus Tears Bar – the Little Mermaid figurine will be lying on the floor near the jukebox. Don’t forget to retrieve your gear from the cabinet when you head back upstairs!

Music Box Puzzle Solution

When you’ve collected all the figurines and placed them in the music box, you can rotate the circular sections to control the paths the figurines will take. The layout for the path is shown in the image above; the objective is to ensure each princess can reach one of the doors simultaneously.

Next, turn the three keys below to wind each princess’s motion mechanism. They move at different speeds, so you will need to adjust how much you wind each key to ensure they all enter their respective doors at the same time.

The solution is as follows:

• Left Key: 7 Turns
• Middle Key: 5 Turns
• Right Key: 1 Turn

This isn’t merely an exercise in guessing; each poem hints at specific numbers, but only a portion of those hints are relevant. “Seven kindly souls opened up the door” connects to Snow White, “The love of five would bring her back home” relates to the Little Mermaid, and “Leaving one behind, she has found a way” refers to Cinderella. Adjust the keys accordingly, and the three princesses will navigate the music box and enter their respective doors at the right moment.
