One of the toughest challenges in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is the Resonance Chamber puzzle, which you’ll encounter in the Gizeh chapter. Tied to the main story quest titled "The Idol of Ra," this puzzle demands a solid grasp of multiple game mechanics, sharp observation skills, and a willingness to explore and test various solutions. Players have found it perplexing since the game’s launch, and even with Indy’s helpful hints, it can feel daunting, even for seasoned players.
As mentioned, the Resonance Chamber is part of "The Idol of Ra," so it’s impossible to miss or skip. You’ll need to solve it while exploring the depths of the Khafre dig site. Here, you’ll discover a concealed entrance at the base of a pyramid, which you’ll break open using a sledgehammer. Once you enter the Resonance Chamber, you’ll immediately notice three statues and four tablets, which serve as the keys to solving this intricate puzzle. Let’s break down how to decipher the secrets hidden within the Resonance Chamber.
How to Photograph the Tablets
Tablets in the First Room
Start by examining the Resonance Chamber closely. You’ll see tablets affixed to the walls around the statues, which Indy will likely comment on being written in the Adamic language. To move forward in the quest, you’ll need to photograph every Adamic tablet. Begin with the four found in this initial chamber (more will be encountered later), all of which are displayed above.
When you’re positioning the camera for the shot, aim to have the caption visible above the frame to capture the ideal picture. If you’ve done this correctly, Indy should make a remark about the photo, and you’ll earn a few Adventure Points.
Keep in mind that one of the tablets is damaged, but we’ll address that shortly. Once you’ve photographed all the tablets, you’ll receive a prompt to check Laura’s Journal, which is your next course of action. You’ll see a brief cutscene before proceeding to the next part of the quest.
Discovering the Secret Passage and the Last Two Tablets
As Indy takes pictures of the tablets in the Chamber, he will read their inscriptions aloud. This will trigger a small opening in the wall next to the first tablet shown in the gallery above. Crouch and crawl through this passage to find yourself in a dim, narrow corridor.
On your left, you’ll spot two additional tablets; light the brazier beneath them for better visibility so you can capture clear photos.
At the end of the hallway, you’ll come across the missing piece of the broken tablet. Pick up the staff next to it and use it to smash through a cracked wall on the right. After retrieving the tablet piece, head back to the main area with the three statues. Placing the broken tablet back in its slot, take another photograph of the restored tablet.
Solution to the Chamber of Resonance Puzzle
To complete this challenge, you need to arrange the six Adamic fragments into coherent phrases (which translates into two sentences) by clicking them in the correct sequence. Each correct selection will make sand leak from one of the holes in the pedestal. While you could try to solve this purely by guessing, here’s the solution to save you time:
"Heed the Lord’s oath. Protect the secret of the name."
In other terms, interact with the photos in this order: 2, 1, 4, 6, 3, and 5. Fortunately, Adamic follows the same sentence structure as English, making it easier to decipher. With this, you’ll have successfully completed the Resonance Chamber puzzle. As the sand starts pouring through, Indy will slide down a short chute, leading you to your next challenge in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle: the Chamber of Light.
