Ender Magnolia: Bloom In The Mist starts out feeling simple, but it can quickly become challenging as you advance. In the beginning, you can breeze through the levels, but eventually, you’ll hit a skill check that you need to overcome.
The skill check typically involves facing a boss. The Shackled Beast can be quite tough due to its large health pool and high damage output. Your character could fall in just two hits, so you’ll need to be careful. However, if you learn its attack patterns, defeating this boss can be manageable.
How To Defeat The Shackled Beast
Attack |
Description |
---|---|
Chain Swing |
The Shackled Beast swings its weapon around and may follow with a thrust. This attack has a large area of effect (AOE) and inflicts significant damage. |
Chain Slam |
The beast will swing its weapon down forcefully, creating a significant shockwave. The Shackled Beast usually employs this attack when it is a distance away from you. |
Charged Rush |
After bellowing, the boss will likely charge in your direction and attempt to impale you with its horn. |
Chain Impaler |
This attack occurs when the boss transitions into its second phase. Following a roar, it will leap into the air and slam back down, creating multiple chains emerging from the ground diagonally with a wide area of effect. This move will cover the entire arena. |
Before you take on this fight, ensure your character is at least level 8, or better yet, level 10. If you’re not there yet, it’s a good idea to battle regular enemies for experience. Consider equipping Blighted Dice as a relic to receive an additional 15% experience after defeating foes.
Once you’ve thoroughly explored the Tethered Steeple and reached the “Forest Barrier – Entrance” Respite, you’ll be ready to face the Shackled Beast. While this boss can be tricky initially, it becomes more manageable once you understand its attack patterns.
The battle will begin with the Shackled Beast leaping toward you, followed by a weapon swing. This is one of its most irritating moves, but you can exploit it to break the boss’s posture. Avoid the first hit and step out of the danger zone to use your ranged attack, Barrage.
Utilizing the Barrage skill effectively is crucial for dealing normal and stance damage from a distance. Additionally, don’t forget to use the Blazing Fist, which delivers substantial damage.
If you find the fight to be difficult, make sure to maximize your relic slots. Equip the Eye of the Ancients to decrease ability cooldowns by 15%, and use Blighted Dice to get 15% extra experience after eliminating an enemy. If the Eye of the Ancients isn’t available, consider using Effigy, which reduces damage taken by 20% when your health is below half.
When the boss is done attacking, it’s your chance to strike back. After just one combo, the boss will likely retreat or repeat its previous move, so stay alert. If it retreats, it will probably launch a ranged attack, so be ready to dodge it, or you can rush towards the boss to inflict more damage.
After breaking the boss’s posture, don’t become reckless; it will rise again quickly and start swinging its chain. If you stay too close, the beast will roar and push you back. If it does, it will likely attempt a charge attack, which is easy to dodge.
If you’re looking to deal more damage and break the enemy’s posture faster, consider unlocking the abilities Vanquisher and Lacerate. However, if you prefer quicker weapons, stick with Spirit Piercer instead of Vanquisher, as Spirit Piercer offers a faster attack speed.
So, dodge the attack and deal a bit more damage, then retreat. Once the boss’s health is reduced to around 60 percent, it will enter its second phase and perform a slam attack that will cause several chains to erupt from the ground diagonally, making it a bit trickier to dodge.
Shackled Beast Rewards
Once you defeat the boss, you’ll receive Shackle Beast’s Counter, one of the most powerful abilities in the game. This ability allows you to parry enemy attacks and deliver a counterstrike.
