Understanding the Monsters in REPO
To survive in REPO, knowing the ins and outs of its monsters is crucial. While many enemies are genuinely frightening (aside from that bizarre little duckling), some pose a greater threat than others, and a few are less harmful than they appear. To help you navigate these challenges, we’ve compiled a list of the monsters in REPO, sorted roughly by their danger level, with the most perilous ones listed last. Remember, your personal experience may vary, so staying vigilant around unfamiliar foes is always a smart strategy. Let’s identify these monsters, learn how to avoid them, and discover possible ways to defeat them.
The Hidden
This enemy is one of the trickiest to evade in REPO. The Hidden is completely invisible but gives away its presence with heavy breathing when it gets close. If you stumble upon it, the Hidden will attack and drop you in an unpredictable location. While you won’t lose health, you might find it difficult to navigate back to safety, especially if you’re dropped near a more dangerous foe.
The Spewer
The Spewer might not deal physical damage, but its annoying habits can make it a real nuisance. Resembling a small floating tadpole, it attaches to the nearest player and spews poison from their head. Although it will eventually detach, this can lead to unintentional poisoning of teammates or the destruction of important loot. However, its poison can also harm other REPO monsters—it’s a gamble at best. If you encounter one, try to evade it or shake it off before it reaches your head.
The Animal
Hardly a source of concern, the Animal is a spider-like creature that poses the least threat in REPO. It only inflicts a meager 2 damage points per hit, and you can easily eliminate it with just about any weapon.
The Gnomes
Cute yet deadly, these gnomes resemble garden decorations with sinister intentions. They typically appear in groups of four and will follow players, attacking together. Although they deal little damage, it’s wise to dispose of them quickly before diverting focus to more dangerous adversaries. The most effective way to deal with gnomes is to pick them up and toss them aside.
The Shadow Child
This eerie entity should be avoided at all costs. The Shadow Child can grab you if you stare at it, launching you away and dealing significant damage. It has the ability to teleport, appearing abruptly, but its distinctive laughter and the darkening effect it has on your vision can alert you to its presence. You can choose to avoid making eye contact and wait for it to move along, or you can approach quickly (without looking directly at it) and attempt a melee attack.
The Apex Predator
While the Apex Predator may be the cutest creature in REPO, it’s also incredibly bothersome. This tiny duckling will latch onto the first player it sees, constantly hopping around and blocking their path. Your instinct might be to throw it away, but doing so will trigger a vicious biting attack that lasts for around ten seconds, likely turning you into a "Broken One." Hiding in a closet can help you shake it off temporarily, but often it’s best to accept its companionship for the round.
The Rugrat
This large, jumpy entity is surprisingly quick. When it spots you, it will hurl nearby objects in your direction, causing substantial damage. You generally can’t defeat a Rugrat without a weapon unless you’ve enhanced your strength. A few hits will defeat it if armed, but watch out, as these creatures can easily ruin valuable items during their rampage.
The Bowtie
This massive, white blob moves around the map, yelling at any players it spots. The noise itself doesn’t harm you, but it can push you into objects or walls, potentially leading to an encounter with other monsters. After a brief period of yelling, the Bowtie will leave, but it can still deal damage if it collides with you. Fortunately, it can be dispatched with just about any weapon with ease.
The Eye
Encountering the Eye can be detrimental if you’re not cautious. This stationary enemy, which hangs from the ceiling, can draw your sight toward it and deal damage over time. It’s easy to dodge once you know its location, but surprise visits can leave you vulnerable. Always be prepared to back away quickly when entering new rooms.
The Banger
These tiny skulls with explosives tend to spawn in groups of three. Once they detect you, they ignite and rush towards you, potentially resulting in a one-hit kill. It’s difficult to escape their blast, so it’s advisable to pick them up and toss them away, especially since the explosion can affect other monsters as well.
The Headman
This large, floating head can be daunting to confront. Although it’s fairly easy to spot (thanks to its eerie draft and crunching sound), keeping your distance is essential. If you maintain your distance or sneak around it, it might ignore you. However, looking directly at it or using a flashlight can provoke its charge attack, which deals significant damage.
The Reaper
The Reaper is a menacing, blade-wielding doll that appears rather quietly. It has a lethal slashing attack capable of easily finishing you off, but it relies on sight to locate its targets. Surprisingly, it’s not responsive to sounds, allowing stealth to be your ally. Use ranged weapons or find a spot to hide when this ominous figure nears.
The Chef
This murderous little frog will hop around until it spots you, at which point it stands still and grins before launching a deadly attack. It’s possible to dodge its jump, which briefly incapacitates it, granting you the chance to escape or take it down—if you have a weapon, that is.
The Mentalist
Approach the Mentalist with caution! This entity hovers and can lift you off the ground if you get too close, slamming you down afterward. You might survive, but watch out for falling debris or other monsters nearby. Though its perception isn’t keen, it can teleport, making it difficult to evade.
The Upscream
Not to be confused with the Animal, the Upscream monster is lethal, especially when encountered alone. Typically found in pairs or groups of three, they can incapacitate you with their stunning attacks. Teaming up with others can turn the tide, but be mindful of some possible damage along the way.
The Huntsman
Though blind, the Huntsman relies on sound to hunt its prey. A careless step can lead to surprise attacks, often making it hard to avoid damage. Fortunately, there’s a brief moment for escape when it has to reload, giving you the chance to hide or sprint away.
The Trudge
This lumbering figure wears a skull-adorned collar and moves slowly across the terrain. While it gives away its presence with heavy footsteps, do not underestimate its power—getting too close can result in severe damage. Keep your distance to avoid its powerful shockwave attack.
The Clown
This bizarre creature is reminiscent of the Trudge, shambling along while warning you with its heavy footsteps. Upon spotting you, it can shoot a laser beam or attempt a physical attack. While not exceptionally quick, it can be deadly when you’re within sight, so it’s best to remain hidden or maintain your distance.
The Robe
This cloaked figure with a haunting white mask will stalk whoever it first targets. Avoiding confrontation can be tough since its initial appearance often comes with a gaze, thus escalating the situation. If you get caught, it will rush toward you with alarming speed. Your best chance is to flee and find a place to hide.
