The Gate of Faded Glories challenges you to confront a Champion in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Defeating this Champion is essential for thoroughly exploring the Crossroads. After battling the unsightly Blighted Cyst lurking in the Arlathan Forest region, you will encounter Entarus the Rekindled.
Since Entarus the Rekindled is Vulnerable to Fire yet Resistant to Necrotic damage, we recommend bringing along Taash or Davrin and either Neve or Bellara to trigger some Detonations. With their help, you’ll quickly collect the Champion Essence.
How to Defeat Entarus The Rekindled
Be aware that the area around the Blighted Cyst is typically guarded by Darkspawn, which will match your current level, while Entarus remains a static level 25. If you wait until later in the game, you might face tougher foes like level 45 Greater Hurlock Blighters, so it’s wise to handle this sooner rather than later.
Eliminate these enemies before you engage the Cyst.
At the start of the fight, Entarus is slow to emerge from the Cyst, appearing somewhat dazed. Take advantage of this moment to unleash some heavy attacks on its Blight Armor. Once the armor is down, unleash a Fire Ability using either Taash or Davrin, and then activate Detonation with Neve or Bellara.
Keep an eye on Entarus’ mace — when it swings back, you’ll need to dodge. Also, be alert for when the ground around Entarus starts glowing red or a red stripe appears — this indicates an incoming high-damage, unblockable attack.
Entarus will also charge at you, so remember to dodge as necessary. The blue lights above Entarus’ head represent its spell attacks, which will launch once all five are filled (they recharge with time).
These attacks resemble those from the Venatori and Shades, presenting an opening for you to dodge in and strike Entarus while it’s vulnerable.
What Rewards Do You Get from the Gate Of Faded Glories?
In addition to securing the Champion Essence, you’ll receive several rewards from the Gate of Faded Glories. While playing as a Rogue, I found an upgrade for the All-Mother’s Copse Amulet stored in a chest where Entarus was defeated, along with four Etheric Remnants, four Pale Ores, 50 Grey Warden Strength points, and 67 gold.
Although the Champion Essence is the primary objective, make sure to collect it before leaving the area. This will unlock the Gate of Faded Glories in the Crossroads.
